Right now I have everything on W5 and the Denver channels till the end of the year then I will get the Deluxe Pak along with the Starz Movie Pak.
Myself I'm just going to wait until the 4th to see what the final programming offering will be since right now from what I see neither SRL and Skyvision seem to agree the final packages for us. Now maybe I'm wrong but I bet we won't see a true listing and options until after the end of the year. Maybe Mike will be able to answer this question Wednesday.

Sure, less compression and more bits tossed at the audio on W5. I noticed the video is higher quality on W5 then with DirecTv. That's because Direct & Dish resizes the image before transmit. The DC2 transmits the full 640x480 image. Direct & Dish are 480x 480 I believe. Also Dish crams more in a mux than Direct so thats another point against them. I really hope some hat trick can be pulled off and c band really goes forward again. IMO there is nothing better. We need access to the basic channels though.
I don't know about Direc, but Dish is 544x480. Still not the full 640x480 though. Kind of an odd resolution to choose.

I think dish runs 480x480 on the eastern arc and the 544x480 on the western arc. Dish also crams 14 video and about 6 audio channels on top of that. Direct uses 480x480 but only has 8 to 11 video channels in a mux and 2 or 3 audio on some. thats why Direct looks better than dish. Although HITS is better because of the 640X480 resolution but not as good as the masters looked.
Well, we won't be choosing the Discovery Pack. I just talked to SRL & there will be no W5 Discovery channels... not even in the bigger packages. He expects to have the web site updated to reflect what will be available by the end of the week (hopefully, he said).
This is a major bummer for me. So I'll just have to wait & see what is available before deciding anything.

I wonder if the channel selection would be better with a 410 subscribing though Skyvision.
No Discovery Suite?, SRL can count me out as a subscriber then. I wonder who is to blame, Discovery Networks should be easy going to deal with.

Final channel packages are not finished yet (smaller packs will be released). There was also some talk about getting Discovery itself back in the future on sat-talk last night.
Skyvision is only showing two packages right now, and neither one of them has any Discovery Network channels, either. Bummer!!! My wife and I had actually come to an understanding (If I got to keep the satellite, she got to keep the dog we've been watching), but this sure throws a wrench in the works. With ALL of the Discovery's gone, as well as no Food Network, 95% of the satellite channels I watched won't be available.
There are some negotiation problems with Discovery right now May not be ironed out till next year sometime. I can't say any more. Hang in there guys there are plans in the works which may really surprise you if it happens

SRL has posted on their web site that the new programming list won't be released until after the 4th, you've posted information and Mike has talked about it on Sattalk and yet people get upset because there favor program is not listed. I really don't see how it could be explained any better.

Standard def dish an direct looks awful. Only tv direct sd looks good on is my 13" CRT color tv in my shop. Anything larger has something to be desired.
W5 looks respectable on a 46" LCD IMO. I did a personal comparison of the cw masters on 91 west using a 46" 120hz 1080p capable LCD .
To my eyes the cw masters sd looked better than directv cw channels.

There are allot of hurdles we need to overcome. They cannot be resolved overnight. I keep telling people you need to be patient. Things can work out but will take time, SRL & Skyvision will be dumping some big money for engineering to Motorola to get things tested that have to happen to go forward with channels. I know everyone wants things like they were years ago but it is what it is. We need to be thankful that what happened already has happened. If NPS & Dish had their way. Sunday would be it and we may as well toss the 4D in the trash. I would love to post all I know but if I said something and things didn't go right people would be moaning it didn't work out. There are many variables that need to be dealt with behind scenes to make things reality.
Nobody thought the 4D could work and save our current maps but because we tried different things suggested its now reality. I gave more input to the right people concerning the guide today and now it needs to be tested. Step by step we go along. Good things come to those who wait. The bad things because of NPS are almost history now. So let's write some positive history.

...if so, that's not exactly what it says. That's talking about when the updated packages will be available to be ordered through Websams, not when the packages will become public knowledge.
The guy I talked to at SRL expressed a desire to post a more defined list of what will be available by the end of the week, "hopefully" he said. He claimed to be the guy who would make the actual changes to the web site. I have no reason to doubt him.
Again, who's upset? For the most part, I've just seen people making their wishes known. When would be the best time to do that... after all the decisions have already been made? That just doesn't make any sense.
There's no need to manufacture a big dramatic conflict where one doesn't exist. If you don't want to make your programming wishes known, that's fine. But there's nothing wrong with others trying to influence the outcome to their liking.
