Where the Heck Have All the New Releases Gone?

All I know is that Netflix say release date and that is when it is released but with blockbuster it sometimes is not. Beasts of the southern Wild for example was released like it should but I never got it (still not on netflix until 1/1/13). With Netflix I have new releases every week for the past years that I have been a member.

Blockbuster is having a computer glitch per the email I just received and the call I received from corporate. They are working on the problem and hope to have it corected soon. It took several weeks for corporate to realize their was a problem. It wasn't being reported to them by customer service. Anyway this is what I'm being told.

So what's the problem? and why were you contacted?

I know there was an issue in the past where discs returned to a store wouldn't clear the queue and required a call to blockbuster but I believe that was corrected. I'm not sure if this issue is related in any way.

I was contacted because I wrote t the CEO and also because I wrote to customeer service rather than calling. All they would tell me is that they now know they have a problem and will fix it as soon as possible. They asked me to be patient with them. I told them I would be but this would be the last time. If I hear anything else I'll post it here.

I wonder if you just have a Blockbuster account vs being a Dish customer, that they get preferred service and shipment of new titles.

I have a Dish account and Blockbuster account and have been a customer for about 10 years to both services. I don't get new releases at all and haven't since Dish took over. I have since learned through other websites out there, that perhaps Blockbuster will be joining Netflix in not receiving new releases for 28 days. I didn't learn this from the corporate office. http://www.slashfilm.com/blockbuster-longer-releases-28-days-redbox-netflix/

The push to delay new release rentals is an attempt to increase BluRay and DVD sales, and premium movie channel subscriptions. It will continue throughout all content delivery services. Patience, grasshopper. :)
