The seagate showcase external is a pretty good option, and from what I hear its one of the drives that will be officially supported by directv in the future.
You can roll your own by putting a wd or seagate drive into an antec mx-1 and save a few dollars, but if you're not into bolting your own electronics together and being your own tech support, the showcase is plug and play.
