What is wrong with the Cleveland Indians?

Fortune .500!

The Indians, after more than four months of poor play, injuries, trades and disappointments, returned to .500 last night with a win over the Tigers. The Indians are 77-77, the first time they've won as many as they lost since May 18th. Things were so bad at one point on July 9, two days after the Tribe traded Sabathia, the Indians were 16 games below .500 at 37-53! They've gone 40-24 since!

What's more, the fanbase still hasn't given up support of this team despite a let down of expectations this year. In front of a crowd of nearly 37,000, the Indians won their 5th straight last night. The fans see that this team isn't going to lay down and continues to show effort, even with no playoff chances this year.

Today, the Indians go for their second straight series sweep against the Tigers. (Swept the Twins previous). Our final two series' of the season will begin on Monday against Boston and end against the first place White Sox. Finishing the season with a winning record will be quite an accomplishment , considering where they were at the All-Star break.....

Congrats to G-Size!!!!!!!

Grady Sizemore earned his second gold glove award.

When was the last time a centerfielder NOT named Torii Hunter won the Gold Glove?

He was on Web Gems a bazillion times this yeat- why not?

I can't wait for the MLB season. I have an awesome Grady Sizemore picture I'm saving for an avatar. By far my favorite Indian now that Sabathia is gone.

Sabres,

Torii just won his 8th. His first an Angel. :D

And no one...NO ONE deserves it more than Grady. I just love that boy
.

Thanks KCK. BTW, I have this past SI cover framed in my office......

I'm bringing back this thread in honor of the Indians moving percentage points below the Nationals for the worst record in baseball. *sigh* I expected much better this year. :(

It's going to be interesting to see how long Wedge can hang onto his job if this continues. Shapiro is pretty patient, but I'd imagine he's starting to think about making a change.

I'd wait until the end of June.

Interleague Play could be the tonic Cleveland needs.

Buffalo Curse

It is the Curse of the Buffalo. After many years and a great working relationship with Buffalo; Cleveland got greedy and pulled their AAA team out of Buffalo and moved them to Columbus. May they rot in the cellar of the American League once again for ages.:D
