Exactly. A Single Hopper 3 (or any recently installed Hopper or 2 Hopper w/Slings) would have been installed with a Hybrid LNBF. BUT, A Hopper 3 (And a Hopper Duo) when plugged into power, disables the 2nd Output ono the Hybrid LNB. That's why you need to have a DPP so that all 3 Sats (2 for EA) are represented to the 42 Switch, which will combine the signals from the LNB and push them through both Outputs on the switch.

I appreciate the advice. And understand what you mean, will try not to overstep my bounds.
However, I am stubborn. Wont recommend/advocate that setup anymore, since I am basing myself on theory, instead of actual experience mixing specifically a DPH42+Hybrid LNB. Pretty dumb of me in retrospect. But as soon as I can mount a tripod/change out my LNB I'm going to try it anyway. And if I am wrong, ill be the first to admit it. Not only because its the right thing to do, but I will find the result interesting anyhow, since that would mean that a Hybrid LNB is DP/DPP compatible unless its specifically feeding a DPH42.

I started this project in hopes of upgrading to 2 H3's because I miss so much the swap/PIP that does not work on the 4KJ in the Master Bedroom whereas I had a HWS there previously. I also had read that Dish was going to reduce the fee for a second owned H3 to $7, which I understand, now that I have invested significant dollars, that is only the case if you own BOTH H3's. So again thanks for the input and for the valuable insight you offer to many of the DIYers here. Installed my first dish in April 97 when we were hitting just 110. That was a breeze!! The new stuff - very complicated.

I too want the full functionality of multiple H3's. The Joeys just dont cut it. I see there are many setup schematics on how to do this. My question is how are you able to activate the second or third H3?

You can do two H3s but not three... and, you have to purchase the second one in order to get it activated.
Once you have the equipment, it’s easy to call and have Dish activate it. However, if you want them to install it/provide the second H3 (Third is not possible unless you are a business, and even then it’s difficult) then it becomes a lot more troublesome.
Thanks for the reply. I just got off the phone with Dish. Techs say sure, you can do 4 H3's easy with two DP44's, two Duo Nodes. Retention specialist says they wont activate even a second H3. I have been setting up my own dish installs since back in the late 1990"s. I have a supervisor calling me back. Does anyone know why Dish would limit the potential of one of the best DVR's to just one? (or as you say two)

I don't believe so. That diagram applies to earlier Hoppers and not the H3. I think what you would need is either two dishes, or a single dish with all DishPro duals feeding two DPH42's each of which feed two H3's. So IMHO it's technically feasible, but I have no idea if Dish will do that on one account. They should see dollars before their eyes when they see you coming, and approve it immediately.

Something like this. You would use a DPH42 switch instead of a DPP44
(Had nothing to do, so I added a few colors to the chart, if anyone has any ideas of what else I could add let me know)

Charles, I note that your diagram shows a hub rather than a node. You might want to fix that.
Well that statement is confusing! Your diagram already shows a DPH42. Plus that only gives him 2 H3's, not 4 as he wants.
Again, that only gives him 2 H3's. Am I in the wrong thread or something?
