I've never depended on a meter to aim any of my dishes, and I've put up quite a few over 30 years. Use a receiver and small tv or monitor at the dish. The MicroHD, if you push the Yellow "Signal" button at the top, will even emulate BER by showing how stable the levels are. You want them as stable and level as possible, not fluctuating at all if possible. IMO none of the present meters are worth buying unless you are willing to spend upwards of $500 or so. That's out of my budget for doing this stuff, no matter how much I like watching tv.
Actually I’m looking for a meter that does not only FTA but Dish as well. Turbo 8PSK, S2, MPEG2/4, etc…
I am a paying Dish customer and have numerous FTA ku & C dishes. I end up shuffling dishes fairly often, I have to support my dad and I have problems with ~drooping dishes~ because of drought/soil problems.
I do not like dragging a tuner and extension cords out into the yard..
I really do want to get a GOOD meter and I’m figuring to spend upwards of $350 to $400..
There are two I’m looking at, SATlink WS-6922 HD or SatHero SH-500G… I know those aren’t truly professional meters but I can’t afford a truly professional meter because I don’t do this for money and never will.
To me, they appear to be much better than the entry level hobbyist meters but below professional grade/price… It’s pretty much all I can afford.
I am open to suggestions but dragging a tuner out into the yard is not what I want to be doing.
Thanks…
