Watching shows on external hard drive with disconnected VIP722K

I have a VIP722K that is no longer connected with Dish. We have a lot of movies & sports that were transferred from this DVR to a Verbatim USB2TB external hard drive. In the past I just connected the hard drive to the DVR & the shows would come up in our recordings under "Media". Now it's asking me to call Dish to activate the hard drive. Since this DVR is no longer receiving satellite signals from Dish, I can't get it activated (again).

Is there some other way that we can watch these shows on a TV? Since they were all originally recorded on Dish, I'm assuming I have to do it through the Dish DVR. But I really don't know.

Unfortunately, those recordings are encrypted with a key dependent upon your account number. Now that the account number has gone away, those recordings are inaccessible probably forever. I have not heard of a reactivation making them available again, because you get a new and different account number.
