you are probably right about this. Everything we read says that the sides are not even talking and you would think that if they were that VOOM at least would want people to know this.

Whatever level of customer dissatisfaction DISH viewed as unacceptable was apparently not reached. I am speculating here but I would have thought that if a peaceful reolution ws possible it would have happened quickly.

But if folks are truly upset they should vote with their feet.

Acceptable level of customer dissatisfaction? I think Charlie is a tough old SOB and doesn't care about any level of dissatisfaction.
I thought that was evident while speaking to a couple of CSR's who indicated to me that they were told to keep quiet about the level of dissatifaction or they may be looking for another job.

The bottom line is that Charlie does things his way.

I read about some area in Missouri (I think) where Dish dropped the CBS affiliate (because Charlie didn't like the carriage terms) leaving some 40,000 subs without the channel. Never mind that other people in this area that subscribe to Direct or cable still had the channel.

Apparently Charlie wanted a better deal than was acceptable to Direct and cable.

To me what set Dish apart from other services was VOOM. I bought Dish to get
Voom
and now that they no longer have
Voom
, then they are no different then what I had except now Direct has more to offer...DISH doe's not do right by there customers. I turned on my TV to find out I know longer had VOOM, nothing in the mail, no phone call, just no more Voom. VOOM gave me true HI-DEF not all that up- converted crap. I have 11 month's left on my contract and will pay to get out of it, if Direct gets Voom.
I am a customer Dish will lose because of this action.
I hope VOOM gets there money, then maybe Dish will realise it's the customers that come firs
t.

OK but does anyone have any proof one way or the other?

Ok. we will se on the lawsuit but who knows. Sorry about te misunderstanding.

Here's some

OK but does anyone have any proof one way or the other?

Here's a few links of other's that are not happy about Dish.

Voom HD claims over $1 billion in damages from DISH Network drop - Engadget HD
There's a lot of us ready to give up on Dish because of there action. I would of not signed on the dotted line if I knew at the time they were getting rid of VOOM. They kept selling VOOM with Dish all the way until it was off the air. Now tell me if that's fair. I live in an area that has a lot to offer, when it comes to programming and could of saved $45.00 a month. I could of Bundled Phone/Internet/Cable and saved. Instead I went with AT&T with Phone and Internet and Dish for my viewing pleasure. Because I wanted VOOM channels. I am now paying $45.00 more and no VOOM.:yikes

You are right it was silly to ask if anyone has any evidence one way or the other anout this specific claim. i don't know what I was thinking.

don't wait Cancel now and let Charlie know why!

I agree! The best way to get back is to cancel your service and make it clear why! Right now American Express is offering a free $50 to switch to Directv. If you check that along with Directv's special deals will make it worth it to cancel prior to waiting for your 11 months. I canceled prior to my service contract and still saved $788 in year one then $216 in year two!:hungry:

You can stop paying them your money which helps them get away with taking Voom away!

I dont think that dish cares one iota. They seemed to westhered this storm so far. They are bascically laughing about this.

They pulled a fast one and got away with it.

Nothing we can do will bring them back on..

I bummed by all of it.

The more people whom hate Voom being taken away that cancel dish the more they will feel the pain! Voom users are at the high end of the monthly payments so we are often equal to 3 to 4 regular users as we often pay over $120 + a month. Right now American Express is giving $50 if you join Directv by end of July; that along with their great promo deals will likely anyone to save regardless of how much time is left on your contract. I canceled prior to my contract and saved $788 year one then $216 year two. The service was installed yesterday and it was a much cleaner install and so far I am very happy with the service and am going to write a written letter to voice why I canceled in addition to what I did over the phone

HD only?

So do they have an HD only package. I looked but couldn't find one. So I would be paying more than I am now w/ HD Only and the premiums. then I would also have to get a 2nd DVR that would cost me even more. Where are these special offers that you are talking about?

HD Only is a good package and currently unmatched by anyone else in value. It was a fantastic deal when we had Voom.

I'm not sure where you're getting your "deals" from. I have checked over and over again and DirecTV cannot offer me the same amount of tuners, along with the channels that I currently get, without charging me $25/month more than what E* charges me.

I would love to see a side-by-side scan of your monthly bills showing that you are getting comparable services AND getting a "deal."

He's been cut and pasting the same gross exaggeration for the last few weeks.

I'm going to be saving with D*, but I have only 2 DVRs and 2 TVs. The deal I got was:

$23 discount per month X 12 months = $276
$10/mon via AAA promotion X 24 months = $240
$10/mon for Referral X 5 months = $50
$35/mon Free HBO/Starz/Cin X 3 = $105
$12/mon Free Showtime X 12 = $144

Paid $99 for the HD DVR, the SD DVR was free. Free install for the whole package. Only pay one DVR fee, so that saves $5/mon. Then there is a $300 coupon book that is supposed to come in the mail, offering discounts on things like MLB:EI. That may or may not do anything for me.

All told, I'll be saving several hundred dollars on D* vs staying with E* over the next two years.

I agree!! BUTTTT...

Bad timing!!! Laid off for a few weeks until contract dispute is taken care of..Don't need that charge to my credit card at the moment. I can deal with it for another month or two. I'll take a look back into Directv. I had a lot of problems with rain fade with them because of my location. (Tree's) Every time it rained bye bye signal.
Like I posted earlier, What set Dish,Directv and cable apart from each other were the Voom channels. The main channels I watch on Dish now, I can get with the local cable company with a $45.00 saving's with the Bundle pack. I love the quality of satellite compaired to cable when it works right. But I was sold on something and for some reason out of my control it was taken from me. I have to keep up to my part of the contract or pay penalties, while they can take away any programming they want at any time they want. They can break the Contract with Voom, but we can't break our contract with them. Again I hope Voom wins!!:yes

Here's the big question. I know its a long shot but what ''if'' dish fixes
there tatered relationship with voom. All of a sudden Voom is back!

Do you stay with direc or come back to dish???

Two thing keep me with dish, a contract with more than 8 months left and the DVR which beats ALL others hands down IMO. Since I have a contract I can wait it out, then I will have to choose If switching is worth the DVR function,2 tvs per box and OTA HD added to guide for third recordable stream. Imagine if only Dish would wake up and straighten up. they would win the war hands down next year if they really wanted to. This along with the ATT deal toward the end of the year could turn out to be the kick in the pants Dish need to quit bringing lawsuits on themselves for thier actions. Remember Voom is not the only entity to file on Dish. There is a pattern. Now Dish need to see this pattern and correct it. I have the Time, it is up to Dish now to prove to me they want my 120 dollars next spring.

That's about the same information I've gotten.

For me, the HD DVR is free too. I did not ask if two HD DVRs would be free.

DirecTV DVRs can take software updates, change regularly, add new features, etc. etc. The menu navigation sucks, but there are many things they can do that a 622 cannot. I see new stuff added to a friends DirecTV DVR than I do the 622. I would sooner pay for 2 HD DVRs (like I have 2 622s) than rely on the SD 4:3 output of the second 622 source (that's fine if your second TV is an old SD 4:3 model).

External Hard Drives seem to force people to stick with their DVR if they use the service and have 5 or 6 extra drives filled. Seems like a hook that caught many people. I'm glad I didn't bite that too hard.
