ViP622 OTA decoding?

I did a search for this, and after reading several hopefull threads I still didn't get the info I was looking for. So here's my question.

If I have a ViP622 without continuing HD programming can I still get Over The Air HD programming from a separate antenna decoded through this receiver?

I believe so, HD package isn't required for the OTA feature as far as I know. I'm not sure if you'll find anyone who has a 622 without the HD package to verify though..

I'm pretty sure there's an HD enabling fee to enable the tuner. I think it's 5.98

The reason I ask is that if after I get through the promotional free programming period and find that it isn't really worth the extra $20/mo I may opt to drop the HD programming.
Then why get a HD receiver you ask? 'Cause it's free.
And why do I care about OTA HD via my ViP622 when most new HD TVs have an integrated HD tuner anyway? 'Cause it's a DVR. I rarely watch tv at it's regularly scheduled time and I cannot go back to no DVR.

Actually it is $6.00 not $5.98 . The $5.98 fee is the dvr fee.
