I'm a long-time Dish customer and just upgraded to HD with a new dish and Vip222K receiver two weeks ago. All was well for a few days and then I noticed that the "screen saver" would not go away by hitting the "Select" button on the remote for TV1, despite on-screen instructions. Using the "Select" button on the front of the Vip22K would work, however.

I had a tech out recently for a signal problem and he replaced the remote as well. But today I see that the screen won't clear by hitting the "Select" button.

I don't have that issue with TV2. Am I doing something wrong?

If you have an LCD tv, it could be IR interference with the remote. Try powering the tv on about 10-15 minutes before using the remote to remove the screen saver. If it works then you'll need to change your remote to UHF.

known issue for this problem, to confirm, leave tv off and press select and do other functions while tv is off to confirm effective operation of remote and receiver when tv is not on. call dish and ask csr to look at "kpi" for that receiver for "ir remote fails to work until tv warms up"

Well, I had a tech replace the remote and receiver, and it's the same thing: the "Select" won't make the screen saver go away.

I'll try the previous recommendation and post back. Thanks.

Keep in mind: the Vip 222K is on all the time; it's never turned off.
