Vip 722 and sw44

I have a VIP 722 w/ an aditional DishPro receiver. Can I use my sw44 to add 2 additional non-dishPro receivers to my system?

I'll say no

The SW44 only works with Legacy equipment. I'm assuming you have a DishPro setup. Do you know what dish & LNB type you have?

I just upgraded to HD and have an additional receiver (DP 311) in the system. I wanted to know if i could introduce 2 additional receivers into the system and what type of switch i would need. I have a TURBOHD dish w/ DP PLUS LNB.

You need to tell us what dish, lnb, and switches (if any) you have. To make a long story short, your SW44 needs to take it's inputs from 2 legacy dual LNBs. Such are probably not available on your new HD dish, whatever it is. I would guess you will need a DPP44 to feed 4 receivers.

I am personally surprised that an SW44 exists, since a legacy quad LNB would be much cheaper. I guess it's built for separate dishes, or else predates the quad.

I was totally mistaken. Had a brain fart. It's NOT an sw44. It is a DP 34.

So your dish has 3 cables going to a DP34, and 3 of it's 4 outputs are currently in use. Is that about right? Or maybe you have a spare DP34, and your current 722 and 311 are hooked directly into your DPP twin? Recommend going to the 722 and hitting Menu - 6 - 1 - 3 and reading the Device line.

The latter of the two statements is correct. the 722 and the 311 are directly hooked into the twin. The device line reads as follows: DPP 1K.2, 1K.2(1), 1K.2(2), 1K.2(3). My intent is to hook up an additional receiver. I really appreciate the help.

OK, that's a 1000.2 dish. It has 3 DishPro Plus receiver outputs, each capable of feeding a dual-tuner receiver with the signal from 3 satellites: 110/119/129. It also has an integrated switch which would be called a DPP43 if sold separately.

From the 1000.2 Quick Facts:

Add Additional Receivers:

Connect the three output ports of the DP Plus 1000.2 LNBF to a DPP44 switch for a fourth receiver. When connected to a DPP44 switch using three cables, the LNBF provides signal from 110°, 119° and 129°.

Also note from 1000.2 outputs (and probably for DPP44 outputs used for legacy receivers):

While all DISH Network satellite receivers can be connected to the DISH 1000.2, the following models may not detect and will not support the 129ºW location or a fourth orbital location connected to the DPP 1000.2 LNBF’s LNB In port: 1000, 2000, 3000, 4000, 5000, JVC-DVHS (IRR), and the DishPlayer 7100/7200.
