Vikes to play outdoors at home next week

Another Rip In Dome Causes Evacuations
Another Rip In Dome Causes Evacuations « CBS Minnesota – News, Sports, Weather, Traffic, and the Best of Minnesota

The Vikings seem to be in the same situation that the Montreal Alouettes were in when they moved from Olympic Stadium(because of a U2 concert) to Molson Stadium. They since built Molson Stadium up & it is a beautiful stadium now. I just don't see Minneapolis putting in the money to renovate the Metrodome like New Orleans did with the Superdome. I see TCF Bank Stadium getting built up to their 80,000 seat capacity to permanently host the Vikings(how long would it take to install the extra 30,000 seats?). I don't think the Vikings will be going back to the Metrodome ever again.

I wonder if Target Field was an option ... such a great looking stadium!

Target Field only hold about 39000 so that wont work
also it wouldnt fit...its only 339 down left field line and 326 down right field....and there isnt enough foul territory ;)
also that stadium is winterized too

unreal. So last night on the news they say they need helpers to shovel at the bank. Show up before 8 work a 4 hour shift and get paid 9 bucks an hour (there was also starting times of noon and 4). So folks show up. Now this morning on the news they said they had to turn folks away because there werent enough shovels (I guess 400 folks showed up)

Vikings players have expressed concern about the safety of playing at TCF Bank Stadium Monday night. The Bears may take it one step further.

According to reports, the Bears might file a protest about playing the game at the University of Minnesota's football field because of safety concerns. The league is planning on the game being played at that venue, although that may change if the venue can't be properly prepped in time.

Meanwhile, players are worrying about the frozen turf, which lacks heating coils under the surface like other cold-weather venues.

Protesting due to the field being too hard ......
What a bunch of WHIMPS.

What, they think football has never been played outdoors, the Bears of all people should not be complaining, they are outdoors every week.

Hell, they played ball in Minneapolis for YEARS on the hard grass.
It's probably not any harder than playing on a parking lot, ala astroturf.

I agree Jimbo....the Met was barely held together to begin with....much less the surface being heated.

I heard on the news they were going to put some warmer things on the turf to try and warm the surface

Soldier Field's surface isn't as hard as concrete though. The Bears also have a point about player safety. Why stress it so much and fine players for the most random things, but then make them play on concrete?
On the local radio this morning, one of the retards that doesn't think before talking(sums up all of them really) talked about how no one would show up at the stadium to shovel snow because they have better things to do and don't care to do something like that. I can't wait to hear him eat crow tomorrow(even though he won't mention it)

they had MORE than enough folks to shovel

also the ticket thing is interesting. If you have tickets to the game here is how it works
-if your tickets are in the lower bowl get in line starting at 4. They let you in at 5. General admission
-if your tickets are in the upper bowl they let you in at 5:30...again General admission

They will let people in until the building is packed...then the rest are S O L

However, the Dome in Minny is field turf, I'm guessing is basically on top of a parking lot.

Right, but field turf isn't astroturf. Field turf is just as good if not better than real grass according to many players.

interesting that on the news they were saying the turf right now "is better than it was for the Iowa game" (last game of the year). Also with the snow it insulated the turf so its not as bad as folks make it sound
