Video Game Deals

I'm going to wait until the 50% Steam discount. Actually I may jut wait until the inevitable 75% that will likely come with the last released episode.

I planned to do the same but I'm in the mood to play an episode or two before I watch the season premiere. This discount is about 40% less than the $29.99 it's going for on Steam so it's pretty close to the price I was waiting for anyways. I figure if I buy it today I'm helping the people like you who are waiting for a better price out. Steam will definitely put it up for 75% off within a few days of me buying it. That's just the way the world works.

Humble Bundle is running another Origin bundle. I already have almost every game in this bundle but the money goes to charity (EA isn't taking a cut) and I was willing to spend $5 for Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare. I planned to give the rest of the games away on here since I already own them but Humble Bundle combined them all under one Origin key. Now my Origin library shows 2 copies of most of these games and I don't see any way to gift the extra copies.

For $1 or more you get

Dragon Age Origins
Peggle
Dead Space 2
Medal of Honor Warchest
Comand and Conquer Generals

If you pay over the average (currently $4.69) you also get

Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare
Dragon Age 2
Bejeweled 2
Mass Effect 2
more games are promised for people who pay over the average next week.

Edit: I do see that they also gave me individual Steam keys a couple of these games. Most of them are just under the single Origin Key that I already redeemed. If someone wants a Steam key for Dragon Age: Origins, Dead Space 2, Mass Effect 2, or Bejeweled 3 send me a PM.

At least the Steam keys are separate. Yeah it does suck that they combined all Origin into one, but this was likely done because I bet a bunch of people abused the last system and ended up selling a bunch of the Origin keys for profit. Can't knock them for that, especially since they're donating these for charity, so it'd be bad business to lose out on potential profits that are going elsewhere.

Here's my question.. why just Mass Effect 2? If they release 1 and 3 as well, THAT would be really sweet. Or even if they just included one other game (preferably 1) that'd be cool as you'd only need to separately buy 1 game. I wouldn't be surprised if they pulled a curve and did something like include the new SimCity in an effort to help curtail Skylines' success (which recently celebrated 1 million copies sold btw.)

I will also give EA credit in that they're not "shying" away from this deal. This bundle is now on the Origin website, and if you try to buy any of the games in the bundle, they tell you that the game is also in the bundle and provide a link to the bundle sale. It's nice to see a company realize how hated they are really try to improve themselves and provide more value to their customers. Yeah they still have some ways to go, but they're definitely not "Worst Company of the Year" material by any stretch of the imagination.

I know EA had a bad reputation for some of the stuff they brought to the video game industry like online passes. Most of that negative stuff is long gone in my opinion though. They put out some of my favorite games and I have no problem supporting them.

It's great that they are willing to be part of this and not take any share of the bundle proceeds. Usually the developers do get a cut but EA has given up their share in both Origin bundles.

I don't believe it's purely out of the kindness of their hearts though. It's also a way to get people into their franchises and using Origin. For me, Battlefield 3 was the only game I had in Origin before their first Humble Bundle and the bundle was what got me using their platform. The last bundle included Dead Space 1 and 3 but not 2. I'm sure that was by design. They gave people the first and 3rd game practically free and then they have to buy the 2nd one if they wanted to play the whole series. I could definitely see them adding either Mass Effect 1 or 3 when the additional games hit next week. That would allow them to do the same thing they did with Dead Space in the last bundle.

We won't see all of these games but I could see some combination of Titanfall, Battlefield 4, and Sim City being on the list of games added next week. Battlefield 3 was in the last bundle and all 3 of those games have been discounted pretty heavily lately. I think Titanfall is the most likely choice. They already gave everyone the season pass to improve the community size and the base game has been heavily discounted several times.

The game is also on sale for $23.99 meaning you can get the whole package for $33.88.

Thanks for posting. This is the lowest price I have seen for both the base game and the season pass. Looks like I'm finally going to pick this up.

The Mass Effect Trilogy is also on sale for $10.19.

Steam has a few good weekend deals. First there is a big Rougelike sale. There are a lot of good indie games listed there.

Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor is also a featured weekend deal. You can get the base game for $24.99 but you would be crazy to do that when the premium edition that includes the game and season pass is also part of this sale for $1 more.

For people (like me) who already own the game, the season pass is also 50% off at $12.49. This seems a little steep considering that they are practically giving it away for free for people who haven't bought the base game yet.

Skryim is the last featured weekend deal. They are having a free weekend from now until Sunday. If you would like to keep it past the weekend you can buy the base game for $4.99 or the Legendary Edition with all the DLC for $13.59.
