Verizon only wants to pay for the TV channels its viewers are watching

I could see this being abused.. Who's to stop a provider from charging 100 dollars per hour for the superbowl, and later lowering their price for dora the explorer. We all know how our energy costs go up during peak hours. It sounds like a great idea upfront, but it could be one of those things that turns out to be very bad for the consumer.

I could see Dish network (or any other provider) charging customers full price for all channels but paying providers only for the channels that are watched
