I have a couple of Seagate Cheetah ST3146807 Ultra SCSI U320 drives. 146GB, 80 pin. I'm thinking of getting an enclosure to connect these drives to the USB port and use them as EHDs- possibly in a RAID array. But I'm having trouble finding an acceptable USB/SCSI enclosure.

Has anyone done this? Bad idea for such small drives? They certainly are fast (10K). Might not matter, going thru USB 2.0.

Scuzzy? Lol. Talk about a trip down memory lane.

Anyhoo, USB 2.0 transfers to about 35-40 Megabytes a second. Your drive does 320 Megabytes a second, but the USB 2.0 is a major bottleneck.

As small as the drives are, I would invest in a new 1TB external hard drive.

Here is one, a name brand, with external power. $71.39 shipped!
