I dont really know much about this stuff and just had my hoppers installed today, but I was told by the guy who installed it that I could plug in a jump drive and view videos from it. I tried doing it and in the Joey it tells me that 'This is not an Active Feature' and in the hopper it tells me that I must format the drive to work. I formatted it but then it only works as additional storage to the DVR as far as I can tell. When I plug it back into my computer it doesn't recognize the format and brings up Disk Utility to format it back to normal.

Is there any way at all I can put files from my computer onto the jump drive and view it on my hopper/joey. Or is my best bet using some sort of server and trying to use the Home Media app.

Best bet is DLNA. If your Joey is hooked up in such a fashion that allows it, that is. The the only use a Hopper has for the EHD is for archiving content pulled from the sats.
