Upgrade 3000 receiver

My old 3000 receiver is starting to need daily reboots and I want to get a 501 or 508 to replace it. Can I use my existing dish(300?) that came with the 3000 for these other receivers? Any thoughts about the reliabilty of the rebuilt 501/508 units? Thanks

Welcome to SatelliteGuys... It will work with the 300 but the Dish 500 will get you a lot more programming... My first 501 was a refurb, it lasted from late 01 till late last year, Its replacement a refurb is purring like a kitten...

You will lose the 9 day programming guide without access to the 110 satellite. I believe DISH is still offering a free upgrade to the DISH 500.
