IF you look at the DISH website , they are offering 3 hd receivers to new subs for free: 722k or 612 and two 211ks. This is the way they are leaning for new subs and it keeps your bill like it is today.
722k or 612 with one 6.00 dvr fee
211k x 2 =14.00 or 7.00 for each solo receiver.
So evidently they are moving away from the duo tuner dvr concept entirely. There is no longer going to be any advantage to having one hooked up to a phone line if you have two duo dvrs, because you won't save the $5.00 tv 2 connection fee. But what I find completely wrong about this is that DISH is claiming ONE dvr per account when they already were charging a separate $5.00 dvr fee with any dvr you had extra unless you had AEP.
For example if you had a second 722k on your account you would of paid $12.00 ( $7.00 lease or additional receiver fee + $5.00 dvr fee) Now DISH has eliminated the credit for the $5.00- tv 2 connection fee and you are paying $17.00 for the second 722k come February 1st. But DISH is claiming they did away with the dvr fee PER receiver. Bullsh*t! They kept the fee but rolled it into the new renamed equipment fee instead. I looked all over the DISH website and have yet to find what the additional outlet fee is .
To top that off, they eliminate the DVR /Locals bundle as well making you pay another $1.02 a month for the dvr fee per account. So not only is Charlie still getting the dvr fee per extra dvr receiver , he is also charging everyone the $5.00 tv 2 connection fee that you can no longer receive any credit for , if you plug it in to the phone line or ethernet line. Not to mention that all sd receivers are now as high as their hd counterpart. So no more discount for sd receivers.
So if you have more than one duo dvr on your account you will now pay another $5.00 than you were before for that same dvr. You will also pay an extra $1.02 for the dvr fee if you had the Locals/dvr bundle before. So your bill would go up by $6.02 a month extra total for having one extra dvr on your account .
Now if you had AEP , you will get a $6.00 dvr fee per account , but your programming price is dropping back down to $99.99 a month or $2.99 drop over today. So your bill is really going up by $3.01 for the dvr fee. But if you have multiple duo dvrs on your account , you will get a increase by $10.00 on every one of the duo dvrs on your account. For example you have 6 duo tuner dvrs on your account. For this example let say all 722k receivers.
$03.01 dvr fee (Programming price goes down by $2.99 +$ 6.00 dvr fee )
$50.00 equipment fee increase ( $10.00 x 5)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
$56.00 increase for your bill monthly over what you are paying today.
YIKES!!
