Ultimate Journeys reaches the Equator
US cable-caster Voom HD Networks has signed a deal with UK factual outfit Parthenon Entertainment securing global free-TV rights to a new travel franchise.
The deal will see four seasons of travel series Ultimate Journeys, totalling 20 hours of programming, air on Voom's Equator HD channel, one of 15 high-def channels the company operates in the US.
Each episode of the series goes off the beaten track in each country and city it visits, often to extreme locations away from the tourist trail.
Filmed in high definition, the series visits Botswana's Okavango delta, the ice fields of Antarctica as well as Chile, Vietnam, Bali, the Philippines, Japan, Norway and Australia.
The show is based on an original series made by German production company MetaFilm.
