I remembered a place about 30miles away, that sells OTA stuff and towers, etc, so this morning I drove over to look at some new antennas. My luck hasn't been so great with this new digital OTA reception and needed a new antenna that will do VHF high band. This place sold c-band stuff back in the 80's and 90's too, still has a couple of big dishes up, but they don't seem to be connected to anything-clean forgot to ask him about those.
I picked out a good antenna that's so long it's gonna take 3 people to hold it while I climb my little 20' tower, and we started talking about satellite. I told him I get most of my tv off satellite, he asks "Dish or Direct" (he sells both now). I said 'free to air--got any of that equipment?" He answers "Is that still working-I thought they cut that off" I explained to him what the difference was between free to air, and what pirates liked to call their theft of service , like he didn't know. LOL
Thought he might have some ku dishes since he had Winegard, ChannelMaster, which I think is now called Antennacraft, and other big names. Nothing bigger than a 20" disnetwork dish though. Guess there's more money in it for the cable on a stick equipment, I heard him tell another customer $200 bucks for an install, fifty for the dishnetwork dish, and $150 for the labor. That was a customer wanting to add another dish, for some reason.

You FORGOT to ask about the BUDS! Big demerits there my friend .

I imagine he would've possibly offered to SELL me one , if I really needed it. But why do that when they are still around for the taking ,lol.

Guy may be hurting with the peg-leg crowd no longer buying? Could be some nice deals there after a few weeks of little $ on his books.

I'd keep that place on my radar for a follow-up.

Turbosat...get ya' one of these. 40ft push-up pole with rotor,
75 to 100% signal strength on every OTA signal out to about 95 miles!

Hey Baja, he didn't have the first ku dish up outside, other than DN and Directv, he was a dealer for both of them. I don't think he ever got into fta, but a few years back he did sell some c-band equip-I remember asking him about lnbs once and he didn't have any even then. Mainly installs towers and OTA stuff, the pay-tv is prob just to make ends meet. His demo tv was working nicely , OTA antenna was on a 50' tower. His 2 c-band dishes were not recent additions, one didn't have any electronics on it at all. Wish we did have a dealer around here with a few parts like lnbfs and the like.

Hey stogie, hows it going bud? And hows that Birdview treating you? Not here as often as I once was, but I pop in every now and then to see if anyone's misbehaving. ;)

Doing fine. I have been working on the BV a little making some changes....the motor needs rebuilding but I haven't taken it off...it still works...LOL....you don't have any parts stashed over there do ya? LOL

( for those of you who don't know, Swampman is the young man that provided me my Birdview, he also lives in the epicenter of Birdview country, there are used Birdview dishes everywhere where he lives....also a fair number of Primestar dishes too) :D

OK I forgot about the "weak" motor. And I wish I did have spare parts cuz I'd send em to you. :)
