I remembered a place about 30miles away, that sells OTA stuff and towers, etc, so this morning I drove over to look at some new antennas. My luck hasn't been so great with this new digital OTA reception and needed a new antenna that will do VHF high band. This place sold c-band stuff back in the 80's and 90's too, still has a couple of big dishes up, but they don't seem to be connected to anything-clean forgot to ask him about those.
I picked out a good antenna that's so long it's gonna take 3 people to hold it while I climb my little 20' tower, and we started talking about satellite. I told him I get most of my tv off satellite, he asks "Dish or Direct" (he sells both now). I said 'free to air--got any of that equipment?" He answers "Is that still working-I thought they cut that off" I explained to him what the difference was between free to air, and what pirates liked to call their theft of service , like he didn't know. LOL
Thought he might have some ku dishes since he had Winegard, ChannelMaster, which I think is now called Antennacraft, and other big names. Nothing bigger than a 20" disnetwork dish though. Guess there's more money in it for the cable on a stick equipment, I heard him tell another customer $200 bucks for an install, fifty for the dishnetwork dish, and $150 for the labor. That was a customer wanting to add another dish, for some reason.
