Agree, If I have to listen to the same non stop Dish Defense post, than there should be no reason the same people can't listen to the same non stop posts that are part of the actual topic.Exactly. Always attack the message, not the messenger.
In your own opinion.....I defend the facts and logic, as it should be.
Here's one.The point that keeps flying over the heads of the barn-slingers is that there is nothing comparable!!! Dish now has many more inexpensive choices than the competition with Welcome, Smart, Flex Packs and the add-ons. And to swing back to the original point that started this, they wouldn't have been possible without the past channel dishputes and dishruptions.
And Directv has a Bundle pack right now, that's $200 for 4 rooms HD DVR Select pack. With 4 Smart phone with unlimited data.I never once made the claim that the disputes keep the costs down. But just giving in to the demands of content owners without any pushback would raise prices even more. It's just common sense.
What I did say is that the disputes are not just about cost. As been reported here many times by many people, disputes are also about bundling, which packages the channel are offered in, and delivery methods (like Sling). Other competitors could offer cheaper/smaller packages, but only if they are contractually allowed to do so, thus they would need to negotiate for the rights to offer the channel in a new package. That is part of what some of the other disputes were about (and why we saw new channels show up in SlingTV after a new agreement is reached). Now with the advent of the Flex package, it appears that was also another negotiation point that may have delayed renewal.
You don't, good for you and all you single guys.Bundling with another service (like Comcast and now ATT/DTV do) has nothing to do with which package channels are in. In the example you gave, the channels are still in the Select Pack, regardless of whether it's part of a bundle with another (non-TV) service. Try again.
And that's cheap? I don't pay anywhere near $200 for TV and 3 lines of cell service at my house. Even before I switched to a cheaper TV package that saves me $30/mo. I don't need unlimited data, I don't need 4 lines of service, I don't need 4 rooms with TV, so why would I pay for it?
Now some of you (depending on where you live) have already missed the U.S. Open Golf Tournament on Fox (June 16-19), Game 6 of the NHL Stanley Cup Finals on NBC (June 12) and Games 5, 6 and 7 (June 13, 16 and 19 respectively) of a historical NBA Finals on ABC.
And next up, the 87th MLB All-Star Game on Fox (July 12), The (British) Open Golf Championships (July 16-17) and the Summer Olympic Games from Rio (August 5-21) on NBC, and the American PGA Championships (July 30-31) on CBS. Oh, and this Saturday's Coke Zero 500 from Daytona on NBC is likely gone, as are four of the MLB on Fox games (June 18-July 9).
I expect this blackout to last into the New Year, which means no World Series (Oct. 25-Oct. 29/30/Nov. 1/2) and no Super Bowl LI (Feb. 5, 2017) on Fox, and the entire 2016-17 College and NFL season could also be wiped out for some, if not all.
It's going to be a long, dark summer, fall and winter on DISH.
What is your beef with DTV?Wow. Thought I would check out the Dish side of the house since I am currently not thrilled with DirecTV, but damn, I think I will stay were I am after reading this thread.
Also, i'm so far in the country that i have very slow dsl (around 1 mb/sec or so) which totally sucks for trying to stream video. Dish mentions online to go to nbc's website to watch the shows that are missed at night, but that's not feasible for us.
Well I do know no one is saving $20 or $30 a month, for anything comparable!!!!
What is the current ViP DVR fee (non-grandfathered)? Is it $10, $12?Because it is hard to see the difference in pricing without the actual cost and comparison, here is the breakdown. You will see with two rooms it is very comparable in tuners, packages, etc.
Directv (I called the CSR he said the only install now for DVR is the Genie - if that is not true and there is a less expensive one that would change the savings)
One Genie, One Mini, Five tuners. (Six if using OTA)
Ultimate package
HBO
Total = $142 ($122 package and equipment fees/DVR + $5.00 Sports Surcharge + $15 HBO)
DISH
Two VIP receivers, four tuners (Six if using OTA)
Top 250
HBO
Total = $117 ($107 Package and equipment fees/DVR + $10 HBO) (Note more savings with loss of a tuner on each DVR is possible)
If someone wants to say the Genie is a more advanced newer receiver, compared to the VIP yes though not as more advanced as the Hopper. But you are paying $300 a year for that advancement with the Genie over the VIP.
The point is there is a choice with DISH to get the same programming, about the same tuners on still good receivers, still being installed to this day and pay alot less. So something DISH is doing is allowing customers to save more than just a few dollars.
