It is that time of the month, when Live TV Providers start reporting their quarterly reports.

First up Verizon Fios, with a loss of 74,000 subscribers, but had great gains with their 5G Service.

Fios Video service is down to 2.7M subscribers

Next up, both Comcast and Charter report on Halloween.

Here we go again. Can we please limit these "provider losses" to one thread? I really don't see this site as the appropriate place to post loss and earnings information for television providers every quarter. Maybe a financial forum?

IMO it clutters up the forum.

Are you not the one who is cluttering up the forum by posting the above, after being told repeatedly, that it is allowed and the appropriate place to post the info.

It's a suggestion, the moderators can take it or leave it. I belong to another forum which is concerned with all things regarding Las Vegas, and as far as I know, they keep all of the casino wins and loss quarterly reports limited to one thread. In my opinion that should be the M.O. on this site as well.

A thread a quarter in an otherwise dead forum, “clutters up” the forum?

it was a suggestion; one thread for one topic.
Not going to happen, since threads never stay on topic, last quarter’s report went into a discussion about what cable channels are going away.

That's just the nature of this site. No need to create redundant threads because a topic goes off course.
Not redundant, different information in every report, not just numbers, but their outlook for the future.

For example, last year, both WOW and Frontier announced they were getting rid of their Live TV service, which I posted in the quarterly reports.

Altice ( former Cablevision ) also announced they are looking into the same, which I posted.

Comcast lost 365,000 TV customers.

Also lost 87,000 Broadband subscribers, assume to 5G services.

3rd Quarter is always less then the other 3, expect Dish and DirecTV’s losses to be higher in the 4th, due to the price increases that hit in October.

DirecTV’s losses might be high in the 3rd, due to the Disney dispute, the rumors are they lost a million, which caused them to take the deal Disney offered.

This quarter should not be so bad for most providers.

Is there a date that we know DirecTV and Dish will be reporting?

DirecTV does not release ( but I still receive them later on), Dish, guessing by Nov 8.

But both companies’ losses should be not so bad this quarter.

I actually like the separate threads each quarter. I sure don't see any harm in it.
There is no harm in it. I am sure it is just my 90s-era expectations with respect to thread moderation which inform me the larger topic of traditional provider losses is a single discussion topic. If the mods are cool with the way Bruce is doing things, then that's cool with me. Things change, so we must adapt.

And it looks like Comcast wants to get rid of the Cable Channels (USA, SyFy, etc), probably before it affects the value of the company, as it did with Warner to the amount of $10 Billion to the negative.

Comcast President Mike Cavanagh delivered an eye-opening update to investors on this morning’s third-quarter earnings call, saying the company is exploring creating a new stand-alone entity to house its cable networks.

“Like many of our peers in media, we’re experiencing the effects of the transition of our video businesses and have been studying the best path forward for these assets,” Cavanagh said. “To that end, we are now exploring whether creating a new, well-capitalized company owned by our shareholders and comprised of our strong portfolio of cable networks would position them to take advantage of opportunities in the media landscape and create value for our shareholders. We are not ready to talk about any specifics yet, but we’ll be back to you as and when we reach firm conclusions.”
The news comes in the wake of Warner Bros. Discovery and Paramount Global taking a collective $15 billion in write downs on the value of their cable assets and ongoing declines in linear viewing and advertising. Cord-cutting is shrinking the pay-TV bundle by millions of subscribers each year and it is difficult to know where the floor will ultimately be.

Spectrum lost 294,000 TV customers and 110,000 internet customers.

Fubo added 163,000.

this quarter, so far, 570,000 have left Paid Live TV.

Not making a political statement. Just sharing the report:

Last year in the 3rd quarter, Net loss was 465,000, mostly because of the gains of YTTV and Hulu Live.

But this year, Hulu Live has lost subscribers and YTTV has barely gained, so momentum seems to be lost for them.

With Dish yet to report and DirecTV’s losses expected to be massive because of the Disney dispute that happened in the 3rd.

This quarter numbers are expected to be a lot higher, my guess, around a million-up.

I don’t think there’s anything political about th ACP. I think largely the biggest issue is that the government has universally mismanaged the handling of broadband. It should be considered a utility, which nullifies the need for all these special programs. Yet, because people get cable tv on them, we can’t possibly have that!

Copper has been a utility and look how much different it is with competition and pricing structures for all income ranges.

Also, didn't Comcast (and much companies) know this was coming and create special packages to mitigate this?
