I can not agree with you on the Gophers, but the Tigers I can! Verlander is a STUD! Next year he may give Bonderman a run for his money on being the ACE!

Michigan fan?

Did you see my avatar?

Me and you hate Michigan equally. The only time I route for Ohio State is when they play Michigan!

My sister in-law has her bachelors from OSU, and is working on her Masters there. In fact most of my wife's family are OSU fans. It always shuts them up though when I point out all the infractions they have piled up over the last few years though. :D
So sorry, how did I miss your avitar ???

So are you REALLY saying that there are NO infractions or violations at MSU ?
The Drinking Capitol of the World !!!!

Hardly....

Why does your coach insist on using his middle initial ?
John LLLL Smith

That looks about right, 4 L's for MSU this year, just a guess.
And NO I did not look at thier schedule

It should be another great weekend for good games.
Twins / Tigers should be very entertaining.

Tigers vs Twins

Unfortunatly the Twins should take 2 out of 3 this weekend.
The pitching match up favor the Twins, all 3 of the Twins big guns go this weekend.
I think I remember a report this week that the Twins shuffled thier rotation in order to be ready for the Tigers ( I'll take that as a compliment) only Bonderman is going for the Tigers , So it's 1-2-3 vs 3-4-5

Minor 6-2 (4.07) struggling a bit
Liriano 12-2 (1.93)
finaly lost a game last week, waht is that 5 loses in 2 years

Robertson 9-6 (3.70) could be great ....or not, never know form game to game
Radke 9-7 (4.74)
Sorry, I thiought Radke was having a good year, only average for him

Bonderman 11-4 (3.66) Bonderman has it rolling, pitchinmg well
Santana 12-5 (3.04) Well what can you say, he continues to be great

I can't give to much info on the Twins pitchers as I have now been watching close enough, If anyone wants to toss in how the pitchers are doing currently, jump in

Why do you think our Talent level is where it is? John L., and MSU are hard on punishing their players for infractions. We had the most students sitting out games last year due to academic infractions, than any school in the country! (The NCAA commended us for it). We have infractions, just not to the degree that Ohio State has. MSU has the reputation, (thanks to Tom Izzo being the staple of the athletic department), of being clear from the beginning that MSU does not tolerate infractions. It works... if your Tom Izzo. No one on the basketball team will cross him with infractions because they all understand they have people lined up for miles behind them waiting to take their spot!

As far as football goes, John L. has the same standard, but because we don't have a football program like OSU, or Michigan, we do not have the line up of talent. We had the Jeff Smoker incident, and he got what he had coming to him!

I agree totally. Robertson is not stable, and he is getting worse. I have said before, and will again. Against teams like Atlanta, L.A., or Tampa, he is good at best. He struggles with keeping his compusure, and even if he accomplished that, I don't know if his control would keep him around as a starter. He is a heck of an assett to have on the bench though as a cheerleader! :D

Minor, in my opinion is losing it. The pressure is mounting on him. He needs a couple more years in the minors yet. I can not wait until Maroth is healthy again, and Minor can go back to the minors!

Bonderman is a Stud. His last two games he has given up two homers. If he can cut that down to one, he would be up there with Santana, and Liriano!

Timm, do you still think the Chicago series was not a must win situation for them now? Now they got two teams to crawl over. When it's all said and done , that series may turn out to be the turning point.
We simply have different definitons of "must win". No, it was not a must win series for Chicago. Must win to me means if you lose you're out. Done. Eliminated.

Turning point? Sure looks like it.
We don't disagree on how important that series was -- we just disagree on the definition of "must win".:)

I will gladly take Minor and Robertson, where they are, numbers 4 and 5 in the rotation.

Leyland is talking about possible going with a 6 man rotation, for some reason.
I would rather go with a 4 man rotation, back the way baseball was meant
to be :)

So you do not like Minor, for a rookie I think he's doing pretty good. He had a few rough outings, everyone will have a few here and there.

He handles the Twins pretty well last night

Detroit IP H R ER BB SO HR ERA
Miner 6.0 4 2 2 2 5 0 3.95

I think the only runs he allowed were from the 2 walks he had.
What do you want from your # 5 starter.

IF he gets sent to the minors, ( he won't this year, the september call ups are coming soon) It would be good for the Mud Hens. (Toledo Mud Hens, Tigers farm team)
They need some help this year, the pitching just isn't as good as it was, They won the IL chanpionship last year)
Of course all the Toledo pitchers are in Detroit this year (have been moving up over the past several years).

Verlander, Bonderman, Maroth, Zumaya, ect.
Lets say alot of them have been in Toledo in the last several years, there are more but I got tired of typing.

One more Twin's loss and they will join the other eliminated team (Chicago). All thats left for them is the wildcard.
I would much rather see the TWINS get in the wild card than the Yankees or White Sox, that said, we still have 2 full months left. it took the sox a week or two to drop back to where Minnesota is (was) . So alot can and probably will.
IF (and I hope not) a Tiger falls to an injury, it could all change quickly.

Okay, so the White Sox and Twins are now officially out! Yay Tigers! I guess you clinched the division!

I'm off to get my playoff tix.:hungry:

I'm not printing no playoff tickets , yet ....
I have confidence in the team, but like I said ealier,
Theres a lot of baseball to play yet, 2 more months worth.

The Twins and Whitge Sox aree long from being out of it, they are also in the battle with the dreaded yankees and possibly Red Sox, the east is still a close race to.

It will be fun this summer and fall in Detroit, for a change.:)
By this time most years we can't wait for the NFL season and NHL too.

Remember the Indians got hot late and almost caught the Sox in the last weeks,
I look for some one to come back to the top with the Tigers.

One bad week and everybody is back in it.

Jimbo

Lets not forget the trade dedline is tommorow and some moves will be made. Some will work in a positive way and some will tear a good team down as well.
Hopefully the Tigers will stand pat, but with the recient call ups, I think they will do something.

I see the Twins umpires finally got to the game in the 8th inning.
A balk call when the pitcher asks the catcher to go thru the signs.
when a ball is hit down the line to the first or third basemen it is the homeplate umpires call till the ball goes past the bag, HP ump calls foul, third base ump calls fair, that play made the bases loaded (on a foul ball)
and the Twins go on to hit more over infielders heads .

How do you score 6 runs and only hit one ball out of the infield ?
2 errors, one ficticious balk and a legit hit, at least 4 infield hits.
You play old Twins ball, you use the BS astroturf they but in in 1985.
What a joke, that place should be torn down, but that should have happened back in 86 after they put a team on the field that only had to hit the ball on the ground to chop it over peoples heads.
It's a shame big games have to be decided on high chops.

No I am not a poor loser, I really could care less about one game.

I just hate to see a guy give up 1 hit thru 7 innings get such a turn of events when the opposition doesn't hit the ball out of the infield and scores 4 runs.
I'm not sure how it happens, but I don't remember having any balls bounce over peoples head thru the first 2 games.

btw, since when is it a balk to ask your catcher to go thru the signs again?

IF the Tigers come back to win this game, it will truely show that this just might be thier year.

Just think Twins fans, you stud pitchers Lariono and Santana could be much , much better if you had a true field to play on.

They ripped the old turf up a couple years ago. They've used that new "looks like grass but isn't" stuff for 3 years now. Doesnt bounce as much as the old stuff did

hey it happens. Baseball is a strange game

btw, since when is it a balk to ask your catcher to go thru the signs again?

The reason it was a balk was the pitcher was still on the rubber and put his hand to the ball and then took his hand off the ball WITHOUT stepping off the rubber.

Thats what Bert Byleven said on the Twins Telecast

Just think Twins fans, you stud pitchers Lariono and Santana could be much , much better if you had a true field to play on.
in a few years we'll have the new stadium :)
