Read my post, I didn't say THAT would be his legacy, I said greatest golfer or no greatest golfer, his legacy is forever tarnished.

And EVERY SINGLE professional does not have this kind of controversy. False statement.

Sandra

You knew exactly what I meant...but I guess you are taking that route....LOL!!

Oh man.....

:shh:shh:shh:shh Not gonna say a word...just gonna post my thoughts....

Whatever. My point is that Tiger's legacy is tarnished, just as A-Rod's legacy is tarnished. You brought up Kobe Bryant, his legacy is tarnished as well...AND his endorsements are nowhere near the same as Lebron's, even though he's at similar (or even higher) status in the NBA.

I agree. The media can get a little out of control on big juicy stories such as this. My only point is this: Tiger should've known what was at stake if caught. He has no one but himself to blame for this mess.

OF COURSE.....I have NEVER, EVER stood up for what he did!! You have NEVER, EVER seen me stand up for what he did.

He is and only he is responsible for HIS actions....his cheating..NO ONE ELSE. and He CLEARLY stated that....hell he is THE 1ST celebrity/athlete/politician to include in his speech something to the extent of 'I thought because I am rich and priviledged, I could get away with murder' type of line.

...I knew my actions were wrong. But I convinced myself that normal rules didn't apply. I never thought about who I was hurting. Instead, I thought only about myself. I ran straight through the boundaries that a married couple should live by. I thought I could get away with whatever I wanted to. I felt that I had worked hard my entire life and deserved to enjoy all the temptations around me. I felt I was entitled. Thanks to money and fame, I didn't have far -- didn't have to go far to find them....

So like I said, accountability for HIS transgressions....he has addressed...will the media for harrassing his family ever do the same...??? I highly doubt it.

Tell me....when they talk about Kobe.....do they EVER bring up what happened in Denver?

....nope.

WHY?? Because since then, he was won a gold medal AND an NBA championship MINUS Shaq.....

As soon as Tiger starts winning....it will ALL be forgotten. NONE of his personal issues will prevent him from being thought of as one, if not THE best golfer of all time....is the media holds some kind of vendetta....

....speaking of possible vendettas....

Why The Media Won't Swallow Tiger's Apology

by Michel Martin

Now Can I Just Tell You that I'm not a Tiger apologist. He should be condemned for deceiving his wife, his sponsors, and yes, the millions of fans who admired him not just for his athletic feats, but the squeaky clean life he pretended to be living. I think that the "everybody makes mistakes" standard — where public figures get to wall off a huge range of their private behavior from scrutiny — has led to a dumbing-down of our nation's ethical life where we grant a blanket pass to those who pursue a life of calculated deceit.

That being said, I've started to ask myself a very hard question: how much of the ongoing Tiger take-down is just a revenge fantasy for journalists like me?

If there are two things that we in the media can't stand, one is being frozen out, and the other is being lied to or manipulated. And the public figures who get beat up the most are those who we believe have done both. Tiger Woods' years of success came in spite of his rejection of almost every interview invitation presented to him. And the fact that every third commercial seemed to feature a grinning Woods selling everything from sports drinks to luxury cars must have plucked the nerves of the reporters who covered him. Woods built his brand — successful, healthy, attractive and wholesome — without talking to those of us who believe we should tell the American public who is worthy of their admiration or their contempt. So I wonder if Woods is now being punished less for disgracing his family, and more for defying media expectations, even at the moment of his downfall.
Many journalists passionately believe that it's our duty to uncover every piece of information our audience must know, or even wants to know. But if we want the American public to trust our work, then they have to be able to trust our motives. And that means we, ourselves, need to know the difference between proper coverage and payback.

nope....I knee jerk no more than ther average person...but I wanna know where am I knee jerking....since you have pointed out....

I don't know dude. It just seemed kinda "knee-jerkish" to go off on a bolding, underlining, capital letter spree like you did. You'll have to admit: that was a bit herky jerky knee jerky! :D

Not when a MEDIA person from a RESPECTED news source that states all this hub-bub might very well be because the media has a VERY possible vendetta against Tiger Woods.

...which totally proves my point...;) Go ahead, read either the link below or my post just before your "knee jerk" response...

...it won't bite you, I promise...:p

Now that's funny. Blame the media until you dig to find someone whose opinion agrees with yours....

Tell me....when they talk about Kobe.....do they EVER bring up what happened in Denver?

....nope.

They don't have to bring it up every time, it's there. Nobody comes out and says Kobe makes a fraction of the endorsement money Lebron makes because of what happened in Denver...but it's still true. ;)

I guess when it comes to some of the media getting left out....it is hard to find anyone in the media to agree with him because he never had a good relationship with the media. No where near as bad as Barry Bonds....but the NPR reporter CLEARLY stated that he has rejected just about every single request to an interview since becoming famous...and you don't think that will rub the media the wrong way....??!! really??!!
I have worked with the media and they are the most vindictive profession outside of politics and the mafia.

...I also went to an ESPN poll, which you are MORE than welcome to research yourself, and over 130,000+ and 65% fans stated they thought he was sincere. 75% say they either liked him or had no opinion of him(45% liked and and 25% disliked)

Mike and Mike on ESPN as well as alot of other media folks agreed with me. So, I really didn't have to dig too hard...;)

It will always be there. But does it get brought up? THAT is what I asked.
The great Mickey Mantle was a drunk and an womanizer....THAT will always be there. But tell me, is HIS legacy ruined??!! And Tiger has dominated the sport of golf as much if not MORE than Mantle did. How is Mantle's legacy?

Wow, great example.

Part of Mickey Mantle's legacy is that everyone knows if he had not abused his body he would quite possibly be the all-time home run king. Nobody had more natural talent. If you bring up Mickey Mantle, as many people talk about his drunkenness as talk about his home runs.

But his legacy as a ballplayer is CONCRETE. And so will Tiger's as a golfer. And THAT is the point I am making. He is not GOING to be known as a womanizing cheat. YES, it will always be there there....but his legacy, just like Mickey's will be all about the athlete.

..when they talk about him, the 1st thing out of people's mouths are..."man, what a ball player....." And when they bring up his indiscrestions, it's like "yeah, we all partied more than we should and drank more than we should....."..yada, yada, yada.

...so yeah, that was a perfect example.

...another media guy that was not included to the party....

I am just curious....IF the media was allowed to ask questions...

WHAT would they ask....?!

Let's open it up....

"How many girls did you really sleep with while married, Mr. Woods?"

"Did you ever have a 3-some?"

"Did Stevie, your caddie know about your infidelities?"

"How will you be able to handle the public distractions once you're back on the coarse?"

"Did you ever sleep with anyone famous?"

ONLY ONE question has ANYTHING to do with sports at all....and really none of the media's business.

...I mean really....

The rest are just morbid sexual curiosity.
