Are you serious? Tiger would be living a middle class lifestyle like the rest of us if Golf had no fans.
No he would not! He went to Stanford. His major Economics and his wanting to please the lady's. He probably could have been a Porn star or a PIMP!:up

Hmmm..they have two new polls now.....see if there is a button to click on that brings up previous polls....

One ask if you feel sympathy for Tiger....58% said no....

Another one asked if he came off as sincere......69% said yes....

hmmmm.....

Totally different questions than what the Golf Writer's Associatoin of America is talking about....

IF you think Tiger was not gonna get paid without the fans....you are sdaly mistaken. LOL!! He didn't DEMAND an appearance fee to play at certain events....LOL!! They PAID him because they WANTED HIM THERE...!!! LOL!!

AND THEN TIGER WOODS CAN COMPLETE HIS EVIL PLAN AND TAKE OVER THE ENTIRE WORLD!!!!!

MUAH HA HA HA HA HA!!!!!!!

But he does owe us an apology. We're the fans. We're the ones buying his products. We're the ones endorsing the companies who sponsor his tournaments. We're the ones buying the tickets to see him hit a golf ball.

Without the fans, Tiger doesn't get paid to golf. It's really that simple.

If he was a business executive of some private company, he wouldn't owe the public an apology, but since so much of what he does and how he succeeds (financially) is dependent on his fans, we as fans feel that we deserve a decent apology for the effect this drama has had on the game.
The only apology he owes us is taking so much dang time off! I can't watch any of these sub par golfers on the tour now. Tiger was the best thing in golf. Other then that he didn't sleep with any of my lady's. Heck if he can work it out with his wife then more power to him. In the end Tiger only has to answer to his maker not some Joe and Jane six packs that are on there pedestals.

Actually, not a bad speech. It could have been (and I expected it to be) much worse.

It's good as a start...

And next time he should drop that "million of children" crap. He can't teach them anything.

He says that there is "a long way to go". Could mean another 3-6 months. Another appearance after that.
Sooner or later Elin has to speak, whether he likes it or not. Better without notes.

First step on this lo-o-ong journey wasn't too shabby...

Rooting for Tiger from here on out? A special comment by HD MM

I am a huge golf fan. Some of you may already know this based on past posts. I golf for recreation in my spare time. I was always a Tiger Woods supporter. Next to LeBron, he was my favorite sports figure. He has been such a great thing for the game and inspired so many people to get interested in the game of golf.

Watching him compete for records only Jack Nicklaus achieved was thrilling. I admired his talent, focus and competitiveness. With that said, whether right or wrong, I think this whole scandal may have tarnished the way I feel about Tiger from here on out.

Throughout this scandal, we've been introduced to Tiger outside the golf world. It's no wonder his keepers have kept him under wraps all these years and without any extensive personal interviews. Tiger really isn't a very likable person. Besides the fact that he's caused such a distraction to the golf community, he seems very abrasive and without a personality. I'm not sure I like the real Tiger. And given the circumstance, I don't know how I can openly root for Tiger with all my heart again from here on out. Things just won't be the same.

Sure I can respect and acknowledge the future records he may or may not set. But in order to root for someone with all your heart, there is a likability factor that is involved. I don't "like" Ben Roethlisberger. I don't "like" Ray Lewis. The primary reason is that these guys play for an arch rival of my Browns. In the same respect, it almost feels that by rooting for Tiger, you're rooting for the enemy. Rooting for people you actually like and respect is a whole lot easier. I like Kurt Warner. I like Lance Armstrong. I like Roger Federer. Those athletes are likeable people. It's fun to root for them.

I think the next time Tiger and a Rocco Mediate square off in a U.S. Open playoff, I'll be rooting for Rocco instead.

I just wonder if I'm not the only one that feels this way now?

Yeah, he's coming off VERY abrasive. Like he's pissed for having to give the speech!
That's it in a nutshell. He didn't want to do this, he had to as part of his "therapy". Doesn't he realize that it's much easier this way?? After all, if it were you or I in his shoes we would have to apologize to those we wronged in person. We wouldn't have the world-wide media advantage that Eldrick has. ;)

Look at the time he's saving by doing it this way!!

I just wonder if I'm not the only one that feels this way now?
Tiger used to run the show, any show that had "golf" in its name.

Not anymore. Regardless of the "therapy"... I don't believe there is any "therapy", just smoke screen...

If/when he comes back (and assuming plays like in the old times) will he be able to change his way of treating others?

If yes, he'll be great again. I don't think he can...

Did you even hear what Woods said? He apologized to kids and parents. Even Tiger Woods wouldn't agree with your statement here. Woods was out of control. On and off the course. I've never liked his attitude. And if you want to give him a pass fine but think about his health. Screwing around with women who have slept around is dangerous. And foolish.
He owes the fans everything , because we buy the games, we go to the events, we buy the products he endorses and he knows it.

THERE is your agenda! "I never liked his attitude......".

OK...here we go again...

I

HAVE

NOT

GIVEN

HIM

A

PASS

FOR

WHAT

HE

DID!!!!

My argument, for the 100th time is...and has ALWAYS BEEN that the this is NONE of the medias business. He has done NOTHING illegal....immoral, yes....illegal NO.

And another thing....NOBODY bought his products or went to watch him play because he was a "great dad" or a "awesome husband". NOBODY gave a crap about his personal life....until this.

I didn't watch him play because he is a great guy, husband of the year candidate or he makes pancakes for his kids when he is home....I, and EVERYONE ELSE watched because he kicked a$$ on the golf course.....period.

Are you serious? Tiger would be living a middle class lifestyle like the rest of us if Golf had no fans.

Your wrong. IF there were no golf fans....like there were NO golf fans 30 years ago....he would be Tom Watson, making the same money those broke SOBs made in the 70s.....$30 grand for wins.

Woods doesn't owe me an apology. I've never bought an overpriced Tiger Woods endorsed product in my life. I watch him play golf because he's a good golfer, regardless of whether he cheats on his wife or not, and will continue to do so.

I'll never understand the importance of celebrity product endorsements, beyond caling my attention to a product that I might otherwise have been unaware of. My first set of golf clubs was endorsed by Lanny Wadkins. I didn't even notice that until after I had used them a few times. If, when I had picked them out, there had been a set of identical clubs next to them that were endorsed by Jack Nicklaus but cost $1 more, I wouldn't have paid $1 more for them.

Same here. I have King Cobras that are almost 10 years old. I have bought Nike golf shoes because Addidas and Footjoys are ugly as hell. And oh yeah, I bought them at a Nike outlet store.

Q: But why did "they" want him there? The wanted him there because they want more fans....not because the fans demanded it. They wanted to be more prestigous than other tournaments. They DIDN'T HAVE TO, they wanted to.

A: Because Tiger makes "them" money. So because a GOLF COURSE make more money by inviting him, HE has to apologize....for what? Unless he is breaking a commitment for not showing up....if anything, he owes the golf course this an apology.(add revenue, merchandise profits, etc).

;)

i can hardly wait until the first tourney he plays in. imagine all of the security guards protecting lil ole tiger from the spectators in the gallery who will say nasty things. the guy can play golf. he has a long way to go to become a better human person.

and, yes, this whole statement came across like a homework assignment he had to do to graduate from therapy. if any of you are buying his garbage, i have some swamp land in south florida i'll sell you.

The only apology he owes us is taking so much dang time off! I can't watch any of these sub par golfers on the tour now. Tiger was the best thing in golf. I think this whole scandal may have tarnished the way I feel about Tiger from here on out.

That is your right. There have always been alot of athletes that I have respects HIGHLY for THEIR SKILLS...and not their personality. Michael Jordan is the perfect example. I saw him behind the scenes like very few did because I was in that locker room many times. He was NOT a "cool guy"...and he was a genuine jerk ALOT of times. Another super jerk was former All-Star 1st baseman Frank Thomas...what a douche bag HE was!! Then there was athletes I thought were jerks, and until I was in those locker rooms.....the changed my mind. Dennis Rodman was a really nice guy, but many thought differently. Alonzo Mourning is one of the kindest human beings I have EVER MET....is another.

Throughout this scandal, what I have seen is that the guy is human being that makes dumb ass mistakes like MOST normal human beings make. I have seen the side I have seen in most rich athletes, "I am a professisonal athlete and there is NO WAY gonna get caught...".....guess what, like most men that cheat recklessly, they DO get caught. As far he HIM being a distraction...he did nothing but go to rehab. HE didn't tell anyone this....some big mouth did. He has been trying to PRIVATELY fix his broke marriage, but the media didn't allow this. He wasn't say things like other golfers or TMZ search under every rock. He was just trying to rehab and fix his marriage. NONE of this would have been a "distraction" IF the media would report NEWS....someone cheating on his wife is NOT news....regardless of how famous he is.

You can like whomever you like, but how can you say there is no likeable or there is likeability for an athlete when you PERSONALLY do not know him?! I mean you can LIKE a team because of whom you root for and NOT like a team because they are your rival....You don't know Lance Armstrong, you don't know Roger Federer...how do YOU they are not jerk balls and THEIR PR people are not raising them up like Tiger Woods' people?

I think the next time Tiger and a Rocco Mediate square off in a U.S. Open playoff, I'll be rooting for Rocco instead.

I just wonder if I'm not the only one that feels this way now?

I am sure you are not the only one. But does it really matter if someone thinks like you? You are you and that is all that matters.;)
