A satellite television technician was charged yesterday with raping an 18-year-old in her Uniondale home after coming to the house for a supposed service call.
Kevin Houston, 29, of 202 Bennett Ave., Hempstead, was arrested Tuesday. He is charged with first-degree rape and first-degree criminal sexual act.
First District Court Judge Bonnie Chaikin ordered Houston held in lieu of $50,000 cash or $100,000 bond at his arraignment. He is scheduled to appear in District Court in Mineola on Wednesday. He wasn't available for comment.
Nassau Det. Sgt. Richard Zito of the Special Victims Section said Houston, a technician for DirecTV, entered the teen's home Tuesday afternoon in response to a service call.
At about 2:30 p.m., Houston was on the second floor of the house with the victim, who was home alone, Zito said.
After entering a bedroom with her, he told the victim he wanted to have sex with her, Zito said. After she rebuffed his advances, Houston wrestled her onto the bed and raped her, Zito said.
The victim reported the incident to officials at DirecTV, Zito said. The company then contacted Houston and urged him to report to authorities at the First Precinct, where he was arrested shortly after.
The woman was treated at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset and was released. Houston does not have a prior criminal record, authorities said.
