The Voice

Per wikipedia:

Each team of singers is mentored and developed by its respective coach. In the second stage, called the battle phase, coaches have two of their team members battle against each other directly by singing the same song together, with the coach choosing which team member to advance from each of individual "battles" into the first live round. Within that first live round, the surviving acts from each team again compete head-to-head, with public votes determining one of two acts from each team that will advance to the final eight, while the coach chooses which of the remaining three acts comprises the other performer remaining on the team.

In the final phase, the remaining contestants (Final 8) compete against each other in live broadcasts. The television audience and the coaches have equal say 50/50 in deciding who moves on to the final 4 phase. With one team member remaining for each coach, the (final 4) contestants compete against each other in the finale with the outcome which is decided solely by public vote.

If I remember right from last year, the coaches have 100pts to award and they can divide that number any way they want between their two finalists. I think all but Adam went pretty much 50/50 last year and let the viewers decide the final person. I think Adam gave most of his to Javiar to insure he made it to the final, then it is solely up to the viewers to decide the winner. There was some controversy last year, as Justin Bieber tweeted all his followers to vote for Javiar and the final talley was very very close and Dia Frampton had been leading in iTunes sales for most of the series.

Watching HD youtube UK clips, the guy that did Superstitious was good!

Yes he was.

Yesterday's Week 3 of the UK blind auditions were ok. They just showed highlights of several of the selections. There were 3 that were pretty good. Jay Norton singing "I Need a Dollar", Bill Downs singing "She Said" and then Lady Catherine (Bo) Bruce singing "Without You". Next week is the final week of blind auditions. Will has 3 spots left and Tom, Jessie and Danny each have 2 spots left to fill.

Video looks horrible here (from WNBC Distant from Directv)we do have some pretty thick clouds, set timer for Dish local & my KNBC Distant... lot's of pixelation, in spots I've seen 480 net video look better and this channel usually is one of the best. Some weird picks America (I agree with 2 out of three so far for Ce-lo)

I've been running back and forth to the hospital to be with my dad while my stepmom has been in icu after problems arose from what was supposed to be minor surgery, so I've been watching what I could off my tablet and laptop. Since she was doing better today, I came home earlier and decided to stay up and watch this tonight. Jamar rocked the house Monday and Juliet really shined too. Its too bad Jamar and Juliet are on the same team because I think they are the 2 best.

The video looked good here locally on the Dish HD local, although Monday night we had tornadoes in the NW part of the state and heavy rain moving thru the NE, so our NBC shrinks the video to about 85-90% so they can run weather updates across the bottom of the screen without overlaying into the video.

It was nice seeing Jessie J perform on the US Voice this past week. There were a couple of good ones on the UK episode today/tonight. All the teams are now filled and there will be 2 episodes of battle rounds next weekend on Saturday and Sunday.

Will had to tell a couple of good singers no as he was the last one waiting to fill his final spot. His final singer was a school music teacher that brought Jessie to tears and did an encore performance for the crowd at her and Danny's request.

Don't know if I can keep up now. The Voice Australia starts in a few hours along with some other Aussie shows I normally watch, plus some UK shows just started this past week too. I may just have to save them and watch them in batches as I have free time.

Shine Australia and Nine Network are blocking all the videos on Youtube now. A search will bring up some others but the official Voice Australia channel has been blocked now.

RaeLynn stepped up again this week. She has improved every week. I wasn't really impressed with the selections of the others this week. I don't think they allowed them to give their best performance.

I am really getting into The Voice Australia. 3 to 4 episodes a week, it's easy to get hooked. The judges interact as well and maybe even a little better than the US judges. I watched the 2nd blind audition this afternoon. The final girl was amazing and all the judges turned around and were gushing over her, when she asked if any had turned around, she was blind and didn't know.
