Finally got a faster computer for the Twinhan 102g card I picked up a while back. The computer is a refurbished Gateway DX4720-03 with an Intel Pentium Dual Core E5200 Processor in it. OS is Vista Home Premium x86 (32 bit).
After spending two days and thinking I had screwed up the new computer, it's finally working (somewhat).
The biggest problem I had was getting the Twinhan drivers to work. When I first installed DigitalTV 3.4 Build 19-02_20090212, downloaded from the Twinhan site, the computer crashed and all I could get was the "Stop: 0X0000007B error. Computer would nor reboot into Vista no matter what. The error said I needed to run CHKDSK /F. That was fine except every time the computer booted up got the same error. I even disconnected the hard drive and connected a known good one. It came out of the old computer and has XP Home on it.--- same error. Tired to repair Vista with the disk that came with the computer. All I got was "this version not compatible" or something like that. Tired to reinstall Vista and got some other error. I can't remember right now. Tired to install XP and got the Stop error again.
Finally went to F8 menu on startup and nothing worked UNTILL I got to the last one which disables signature checking. Vola booted up.
I don't care what Twinhan says, the DigitalTV 3.4 program on their site is not signed or is signed incorrectly. At least for my version of "Pissta".
The only way I can get the program to work is to boot up using the F8 menu. Actually, with the Twinhan drivers installed, the only way I can get the computer to boot up is use the F8 menu. I have uninstalled and reinstalled three times. Still same boot up error.
I did find the following on the web while researching the above problem:
"Microsoft on your next update for Vista PLEASE GIVE US OUR COMPUTERS BACK!"
Well anyway the card is working now. I have the Twinhan DVB program, My Theatre 3.8 trial and DVB Dream and all work well. Except for the @x***Y## boot up problem.
Now I'm looking at upgrading the card, I like the Techno Trend S-2 3200. I have read the Sticky: Life, Love, And The TechnoTrend S2-3200 that ACRadio posted. In the article it's mentioned "there was a bandwidth limitation problem with the TechnoTrend USB model ". Could someone clarify this for me?
Thanks
JAS
