The Orville on Hulu

Now I remember why I don't like Hulu ....
AD'S

I tried to watch a few episodes to remember whats going on and the amount of Ad's was just over board.

I get Hulu thru my Verizon plan (Disney bundle, includes Hulu, ESPN and Disney I guess), thru Verizon its $10 for those 3, not bad ... I don't use any of them very much, but I use hulu for a few things, not much.
I found out that I Can upgrade to Hulu Ad free, however its not as easy as "Switching Streaming plan"
I would need to :
1. Cancel my Disney Bundle package with Verizon
2. Contact Hulu, change plan to Ad Free
3. Contact Verizon Again to Turn ON the Disney Bundle
Hope the packages and offers still exist
Watch Hulu and confirm that it worked ...
Then in a few months when I'm done with my shows on Hulu, do it all over again to undo the Ad Free, don't want to continue to pay for Ad Free if I'm not using it.

Btw, Hulu ad free cost $6.99 (i think still)
Ad Free is $12.99
The Bundle is $10

I would think that Verizon would charge me an addl $ 6 per month ...
If the Bill only went up $2 from 10 to 12, I'd probably do it, however the hassle of having to turn stuff off and back on later is stupid.
Bundle with normal money, $13.99 or $19.99 ( no ads).

So, is anyone watching this season of The Orville ?
I'm finding it very good this year ...
Much more Serious stories a bit less on the Comedy.

The final episode was awfully preachy. Overall, I remain convinced that they traded some of the story content for a lot of ray traced exterior shots.

I added Hulu back to see season 3. I call this show Star Trek lite. It is very similar to the 90's Star Trek Next Generation in their story telling. I really enjoyed the one about Issac and Claire. They wrapped up a lot of the Kaylon problems with Charlie seeing things from the other side for a change. Being slaves is bad for any person or any robot in this case. I agree the stories seem much more adult and serious now and full of emotion. I think this is an improvement and this season has been very good. I just wish that they would do more than 10 episodes per season. I would settle for 20 .

Do you mean the last episode ?
That wasn't the Final ...
I think I read that they have 14 episodes this year was it ?

My bad, I see it IS only 10 episodes this year, however they are longer episodes than previously, most are over an hour long.

I didn't find it preachy, I think its touching on a lot of current issues ...

I keep trying to watch, but lose interest and it just plays in the background, and I think that may be in part they have scrapped most of the comedy. It does not work as well as a "serious" show.

Now I don’t have to “borrow” Foxbat, Jr.’s Hulu logon credentials! :D
(not that I would ever do that…) ;) ;) ;)

The show is getting more serious, but it seems like it cannot fully commit to dumping the goofy stuff.

The most recent episode shows what a missed opportunity the whole Bortus arc has been. The original comedy theme was to use him as a vehicle for easy gay jokes and/or men are pigs what would a world without women look like, how would men behave? Now they have used him and his race as an anti-Saudi analogy. A little too heavy.

With things like Orville and the R rated Fox Marvel movies moving to Disney Plus, I wonder if Disney is looking at getting rid of Hulu.

Then what about Hulu Live, it already has over 4 million subs, half of what Dish‘s Satellite Service has, it and YTTV ( over 5 million subs) are the only Live TV Services gaining customers.

I loved the current episode from the Orville . It was like a movie with the extended episode. It feels like the characters are all getting better with single arc episodes on most of them. Dolly Parton was a nice touch .;)
