The next 2 universities being looked at for taking gifts/money: The U and Alabama!

Salsa - I think this goes beyond some kind of "can't keep control of your roster" normal junk - this is SMU with hookers!

Yep. I know it is the #1 story down here. Right now, it's all about the credibility of the witnesses and what kind of paper trail can be associated with the allegations. Can a convicted fellon tell the truth, absolutely...but with that said, you have to take Shapiro's credibility at stake when he says he wanted to tell his story NOW after getting a 20 year sentence and 'felt neglected by all the players' after he was sentenced.

But we shall see, the main thing I am worried about is that The U administration comes clean with EVERYTHING as oppossed to Tressell and lie his ass off. Fans of The U want it out in the open so whatever sanctions are dealt, they are dealt with and move on. The fans and alum are upset as hell, especially if Coker(to damn naive) and Shannon(a complete FRAUD..."I wanna run a completely transparent and clean program) knew about what was going on. Not worship the good they did. Because even with all the good, the little bad they all do kills the program the the current kids that are there.

Man, do you thing they will actually MENTION the Football game being played on Sept. 17th, or will off field allegations be all we hear about ....

whats the point, it looks like it will be against teams that will be irrelevant for years to come :p

Why would you think that ?

Whats the point ?, you OBVIOUSLY missed it ....

This game will be on National TV, like it was last year ....

Buckeyes may be down a year or two, maybe , maybe not.

man at least when luther campbell was doing this we were winning games hehehe............. i'm afraid if this is all true ,and i don't doubt it, that this will be the end of the U. penalties will be severe. so far this would be the worse case compared to the others like ohio, usc etc......... could we see the "death penalty" here?????

No, Alabama does them to (long history of it), the difference is that Alabama actually gets punished for it.

Yep, we have had our, and might get ours again, although I dont think it will have anything to do with the latest "story".

The Miami situation I think is finally going to turn the attention away from OSU for a while.

It is possible. Alot may depend on how Miami handles it from here on, and how they handled it before it came to the surface. Doesnt look good at all though.

Apparently two coaches that Bama hired away from Miami were reported to be involved. If I were Bama, I would disassociate myself from them....

Wow. All these allegations coming out of Miami are making tOSU's troubles look like some minor parking ticket in comparison! Thanks Miami for taking us off the front page! Finally!!! LOL!!! :D

You just do not get it. What the players at Ohio State did is nothing compared to what is being said down here. What made matters bad at Ohio State was the LYING by Tressell(and from his track record, it seems like he does it quite freely).

IF The U is smart, they would proactively suspend the players that are currently on the roster indefinately(8 of the 12 names being projected starters) that were named in the allegations and not pull an Ohio State and let them play anyway knowing they are part of an investigation.

In all, the program is in DEEEEEPPP trouble and IF HALF of these allegations are true, as much as it pains me to say this, The U might get the "death penalty".:(:(:(

yeah........... but like you said, the best thing they can do is be honest and not lie about it over and over like others have.

What you said about Tressel is the truth...and hopefully if the NCAA believes it was Tressel doing the lying, the university itself will escape major sanctions.

...AND this will not be the end of it:

Among the specific incidents, Shapiro or other sources say Hurtt, Hill, Stoutland, Pannunzio and Allen all delivered top-tier recruits to Shapiro’s home or luxury suite so the booster could make recruiting pitches to them. Among the players who were ushered to Shapiro while they were still in high school: Eventual Miami commitments Ray-Ray Armstrong, Dyron Dye and Olivier Vernon (prompted by Hurtt); eventual Florida commitments Andre Debose (Hurtt) and Matt Patchan (prompted by Stoutland and Pannunzio); eventual Georgia commitment Orson Charles (Pannunzio); and eventual Central Florida commitment Jeffrey Godfrey (Allen).

The University of Alabama (Pannunzio and Stoutland), University of Florida (Hill) and University of Louisville (Hurtt) all declined to make the coaches available for interviews. Allen declined comment, calling all of Shapiro’s claims “egregious and false.”

This will morph into bigger investigations:

..While there may not be many boosters with such an over-the-top story, Shapiro knows he wasn’t the only fan doling out the under-the-table money. Maybe most damning for the sport is the fact that while he took care of current players, he says Miami coaches never asked him to buy a football recruit. Mainly because they felt it was fruitless.

“Miami is not the school where payouts are made to prospective student athletes,” Shapiro said. “Miami is a private institution, it’s in a transient city. We didn’t have the money to pay recruits. There is so much more money in big public universities. In the SEC, the money is an endless river.

“If Miami relied on cash payoffs for players to come to Miami, they’d be out of business. They’d lose every bidding war.

“Eighty percent of the players came from the area, from Miami-Dade, Overtown, Liberty City, Belle Glade. The other 20 percent fell in love with the city. While the school obviously isn’t in Miami Beach, it’s considered the hottest scene in the country.”

He said he heard all the stories of how other programs recruit from the Miami players who considered going elsewhere. He was also a confidant to various assistant college and high school coaches. And he regularly entertained players from other schools who were friends with Hurricanes.
The reality of college football, he said, is nothing like it’s presented on television. The cheating is rampant.

“It’s everywhere,” he said. “Everywhere that it matters. Most people can’t even understand it.”

I don't know if they will or will not. By what I have read, you really can't tell IF they knew or not. But the university sure as hell didn't act like it....in my opnion.

From all accounts, at the hearing last Friday Tressel attempted to take full and entire responsibility, and distance the university from the issues. Whether he succeeded or not will be determined by the NCAA.

You and I can have opinions, but the NCAA opinion is the only one that matters.

And you are right...but IN HERE, at the present time... you asked me a question and I answered according to MHO, so the NCAAs opinion whether it be final or not on the OSU situation does not come into play.

No...didn't say that. YOU said that. Lying about knowing what was going on and lying about not knowing what was going on....THAT is what made the tattoo/selling OSU items worse. But you don't need me to repeat it.....EVERYONE in that thread told you that.

Are you from the south?
