“Goldbergs” creator Adam Goldberg says the show's May 6 episode will be a tribute to recently deceased wrestling star The Ultimate Warrior.ABC, which airs “The Goldbergs,” said the episode will feature middle child Barry joining the high school wrestling team without telling his mom, Beverly. Another plotline involves Adam hoping to attend the premiere of “Star Wars: Return of the Jedi.”Goldberg has been tweeting since last week about trying to arrange a tribute episode, reaching out to WWE CEO Vince McMahon and others. The Ultimate Warrior, who was born James Brian Hellwig, died April 8 at the age of 54 of cardiovascular disease. Now Goldberg tells TMZ the episode has come together.“With the help of fans on Twitter, I was able to get in touch with [Warrior's] family and I'm thrilled to dedicate the May 6th episode to him,” Goldberg said. “It's my way of saying thank you for being the coolest hero a kid could ever have.”Goldberg's highly autobiographical show is set in the 1980s, when the Ultimate Warrior gained World Wrestling Federation fame. (It later became World Wrestling Entertainment.)The Ultimate Warrior started wrestling professionally with World Class Championship Wrestling in 1986, and “Jedi” premiered in 1983. But the show doesn't worry itself too much over precise timelines — Goldberg notes in his Twitter profile that it is “very anachronistic.”The post ‘Goldbergs’ Plans Ultimate Warrior Tribute Episode appeared first on TheWrap.

Sitcom Dedicated To Ultimate Warrior Airing Tonight- PRO WRESTLING-THEMED EPISODE OF 'THE GOLDBERGS' ON ABC TONIGHT
The pro wrestling-themed episode of "The Goldbergs" will air this evening on ABC.The official preview for the episode: "A Wrestler Named Goldberg: Murray and Pops persuade Barry to lie to Beverly about joining the wrestling team. Meanwhile, Adam is disappointed when Erica cancels their plans to see the premiere of 'Return of the Jedi."Producers for the series had reached out to WWE about using footage from the early Wrestlemania events and teased an Ultimate Warrior tribute.

I expected more from what was said to be a tribute to the ultimate warrior. The episode itself was not bad or anything, just not what I was expecting.

Just watched the episode, was a good episode I had read they looked into securing some footage, maybe when they didn't get it they had to go in another direction

We got into this show very late and recently binge watched the whole season. Very well done. Looking forward to next season.

I wonder if the networks are paying attention to people getting into shows late in the season and watching the previous episodes of the season.

Good question. I don't know. It seems like it would be more and more common as the pattern of watching shifts to a binge model (a la Netflix/Amazon).

Hopefully it will do even better on Wednesday sandwiched between The Middle and Modern Family.

What's happening on The Goldbergs this season?
You heard about Ana Gasteyer guest-starring as drama teacher Miss Cinoman, right? She'll work closely with Adam as he preps his audition for the school musical. But when the outcome isn't quite what Adam had in mind, Miss Cinoman (and the principal!) will land squarely in the crosshairs of — who else? — Mama Bear Beverly. Anyone want to take bets on when Adam will have to change schools?
