The Goldbergs

I like the characters but the jumble of products, movies and events in all different years is damn irritating. Like in this last episode the kid says Say Anything is his favorite movie which came out in 1989 yet a scene later his brother is eating Pacman cereal from the early 80s.
At least the 70's show tried to keep things within the year the show was in.

This show always says at the beginning of each episode it was "August or September or October of 1980 something." They never give a definite year. They do this to keep it vague and that way they can jump from story to story and take license with all the different 80's nostalgia. Just like they aren't trying to stay true to the guy's life ,who created the show. They use some bits based on the actual family video tapes re-created for the show.

At the insistence of one of my Saturday lunch friends, I got the first five episodes.
She loved it for the 80's nostalgia.
I hated it for the bitchy Mom and nasty brother, who were too prominent.

Funny how this was an idea as a joke in the 80s and now you are supposed to be able to control your tv with the new Xbox 1 or is it Directv's newest receiver? I can't remember but I keep seeing commercials for a woman who says Play Star trek movie and it starts playing on her tv.

I was crying and laughing at the same time.:p Especially at the end when the sister was singing "Hit me with your best shot!" and they had the two brothers doing the entire Karate routine going on in the background.:D

I love it too. Reminds me of my childhood. I also like how they show the actual home videos at the end of each show.
