the may issue of directv news states there will be a sneak preview of the tennis channel from may 27 until june 10 during the french open. channels are 216-222. didn't mention anything about hd!

Hmm I noticed the past week I kept adding Channel 217 to my favorites and then the next day it always disappeared? Now I checked and seems channels 217 and a few above that say OPN?

Any idea what channel Tennis will be on and when it will actually begin airing?

coverage is suppose to start this sunday, the 27th. have you checked 216 through 222? maybe, they'll be active starting tomorrow?

Hmm only different thing I see is channels 218-222 are showing as OPN1---->OPN5

I don't quite get that, I am assuming it's only ONE channel right?

So hmm without "The Tennis Channel" Directv would have no coverage of the French Open? Maybe just the weekends which will probably be on NBC ?

I think your probably right because I watch every year and I don't remeber ever seeing TC as the major player.
Big bucks for them. I am gonna try and find more information on this as I am quite curious.

Hmm says on Tennis Channel site, French will start at 2am PST tonight.....hope it will begin airing then. Wish I wasn't in the PST zone. I am a person who prefers LIVE coverage. Call me snob.

NBC sucks

Does anyone know a contact for NBC Sports? Why do they always show taped matches???? There are some LIVE matches and they aren't showing

What a waste.

I think ESPN2 has been doing this as well.

Very frustrating.

I think I read that due to the time differences, NBC prefers tape delay versus live. I too hate this. The French Open Mix Channels are live though correct? So you would need to adjust your sched for those. Network TV can screw up a free lunch when it comes to events that happen outside of the US.

Yes Tennischannel is LIVE indeed. They share coverage with NBC(weekends) and ESPN2 I believe which comes on air around 9amPST. Tennischannel comes on air at 2amPST-9amPST or close to those times.

God I hate TAPED matches. Oh well.

Tennis Channel plus the five court channels have been great! TTC will have Austrailan Open in January in HD on the TTC HD that will start broadcasting in November. I heard this during one of the match broadcasts on TTC.
