Tell me it "aint" so.

Anyone stupid enough not to read a 400kb contract, but chooses instead to
believe and trust what those unethical Dish agents tell them, OR, not tell them, must be a fool. I bet you read and understood the entire 400kb lock, stock and barrel and then signed your rights away anyway:eek:)

BTW, I wonder how many of you who will not concede to the obvious
happen to work in the field.

It is not like you have a choice in the matter. You cannot edit the contract and hope to have the provider accept it. If you want the service you sign. Most consumers just rely on the fact that if anything in the contract is illegal it will not be binding anyways. Dish at least gives you the option of not committing to a multi year contract if you want to buy your equipment upfront, unlike DIRECTV that was committing people to a new contract for repairs under warranty or any change.

No but not stupid either

Come on guys, give it a break. You really think someone has to be an English
grammar expert to be a satellite dish installer!?!?

As the title states. He wrote such an illiterate ALL CAPS (flame post) that he needs to get his sh*t together before I would listen to what he says.

I understood what I was signing and I understood what I was getting into when I signed my contract with Dish however many years ago.
And no, I don't "happen to work in the field".

It just amazes me what some people get their panties in a bunch over.

Agreed! I just don't understand what the big deal is? Maybe if you have five receivers and two are at your brother's and one is at the neighbor's then you would have a problem with an audit. For someone like the OP, or even myself , with only one dual receiver, you could pass an audit in 13 seconds. So what is to worry about? Let them call! :D

The size house you have doesn't matter. I have tv in six rooms here. You only need enough tuners for each person who will watch a separate channel. With two people here, I only need two tuners. The 722K with whole house distribution provides a feed of both tuners plus dvr to every room. Plus, there is no extra receiver charge. It couldn't be better for us! :)

The size here refers to the fact that E* Dish Nazi's only give you certain length of time to get from unit to unit. If you can get to the next one quick enuff they think it isn't in the house and turn it off.

What is the main concern here? Is this really a major problem to deal with? Receivers do not have to be hooked up to internet or phone lines. Dish will only audit a customer if they are suspicious the customer has receivers at different locations. If you only have one receiver or you never plan on moving a receiver to another location, you have nothing to worry about. This is smart on Dish's end. It's called a business and it needs to be run like a business. You as a customer should not have to worry about anything and should try not to be too paranoid. There are bigger things in life to be paranoid about. Just enjoy the new satellite system you have.

Yes, I understand and I think it is poor business practice on E* part to operate this way.

OTOH, in my reply to 'pabeader', I was only pointing out that the number of receivers one has on their account has nothing to do with the size of the house they have. It has everything to do with how many people will watch separate programs and how you make the individual choice to structure your installation. How you do this can also greatly affect your monthly charges.

With home distribution on all the duo receivers all you need to do is sit in your easy chair, pick up the needed remotes and change channels on the TV and give the info for all receivers without moving room to room.

very true on all accounts.

what messed me up is that I have had dish for a long time and keep adding receivers instead of upgrading them. so at one time I had 6 actual receivers with, I think, a total of 7 tuners. since my last audit I have dropped a few so I am below the critical limit.

but even so I have a receiver on the first floor in one corner and then another one on the second floor, in a back bedroom. i'm slow and it can take me quite a while to get between those two.

Another reason to examine your bill every month. How many extra receiver fees did you pay for equipment that wasn't in use?

I had Dish for a short time and got audited within 2 months. The CSR was NOT nice and got annoyed when I told her I had to put the phone down to get the #s. After that I told her to disconnect and I ended the service. This was before the 2 year commitment thing. Found out after the fact although both boxes were connected to the phone line, non of them functioned, probably after we had a AT&T tech come out to check something and hosed something.

Well you definitely sound paranoid. :rolleyes:So what if you got audited? They'd call you up and say please go to this screen on your television and tell me what it says.

Did you know that those little round circles on the front on the receiver that you think are remote control sensors are actually video cameras recording everything you do? They want it connected to the phone or internet so they can upload that video and see what you're really doing:eek:

As slop is to a pig is this to the paranoid. Really funny stuff.

I don't understand the OP's issue. The CSR and installer both told yo that you didn't need to have a phone or internet connection, the installer followed your instructions. Now if they do call you which all you have to do is read some numbers off the TV screen, how is this an issue?

If reading the numbers on the screen is an issue maybe your wife can do it for you?

Repoint to 129 = big problems
