I want to begin by saying what a great resource you guys have been for me for several years when troubleshooting my Dish system at home. I’ve always been able to figure out what I needed to by doing some searches and reading what y’all had to say. But this time I am stumped.
I am trying to set up a satellite system for tailgating. I have looked at other posts on the matter but still can’t quite figure some things out. I have not bought any equipment yet. I am hoping for just a single tuner HD box. To that end, I’m looking at buying the ViP 211k w/ a Dish 1000.2 Triple LNB dish.
It seems that I would have no problem getting most things. Obviously ESPN HD is very important for this purpose, and it seems like I’d get it fine. The problem is the locals. I would really, really like to get the HD locals for Jackson, MS. I will be tailgating in Oxford, MS which is located approximately 180 miles north of Jackson. I have looked at maps and can’t figure out whether I’m in the spot beam or not. To further complicate things, I’m pretty sure that Jackson’s HD locals are carried on 61.5. Will I need a second dish and a switch in order to get those? It just wouldn’t be a proper tailgating TV if we couldn’t watch the SEC day game on CBS HD while under our tent. Worst case scenario, are the standard def locals for Jackson, MS also on 61.5 or are they on 110?
Thanks for any help you can give me,
Ben Mc.

I wish but oxford isn't near enough to any market to pick up locals over the air. The only thing I would be able to pick up is our PBS affiliate.

Ok, so I've been looking more. It appears that Jackson, MS's locals in standard def are carred on the 110 satellite on spotbeam 11. Oxford is definitely covered for spotbeam 11. Does that mean that I would only need a triple LNB dish to receive the 110, 119, and 129 signals, getting virtually all of my channels in high def except for the locals that would be in standard def? If so, that would be awesome.

Thanks,
Ben
