swap out a DSK4261D for a DSB2060R ?

I've problems with my sat setup. Problem may be a bad receiver. While I'm waiting to test the voltage output, I dug an old receiver we had bought with the original purchase but never used, out of the closet.
Something in memory says this unit was an additional unit only and could not be used as the only or primary unit.
BTW it still has a blue card in it.
The unit being used (with a problem) is model DSK4261D. The unused one is a model DSB2060R.
Does anyone know if I can swap out the receivers? Or if I can put it in place to use to see if the rest of the set up is working correctly?

Dish would have to send you a new smart card before it could work. Blue cards were replaced several years ago.

That DSK4261D is equivalent to the Dish 4700 or 4900 model, and the DSB2060R is equivalent to the Dish 2700. I had one of those DSB2060Rs years ago that I bought from Sears on closeout, and I can tell you that yes you can use it as the only receiver on your account. All you need to do is call Dish and get a new smartcard for it. Not sure how much they are charging for those now. You can also lease a newer model receiver from them, many of them for no charge. Give them a call and see what they can do for you.
