Super Joey in stock at DISHDEPOT.com

I won't even mention it to a new prospective customer, it's not something I'll mess with.

Forgot to mention that if you buy from dishdepot.com there is NO tax if you live out side of the state of Florida. So free shipping and no tax and you get the integrator too , so you can plug it in to your mocca network.

My gut feeling is, aside from forum members, SJ is going to have a luke-warm demand.

There are not going to be many people even aware of it unless Dish promotes it. I'll make my customers aware of it and will even post it on our Facebook page.

It depends how Dish sets up their "configurator". If a customer says they want (2) TVs hooked up, that's a Hopper and Joey system. When you exceed "?" TVs, won't the Super Joey start to make more sense ?

I just ordered new service there is a little check box you check to get the SJ. If you don't check it you get plain joeys no matter how many TVs. If you check it you get the SJ even with two tvs

Just tried it and the configurator lists the Super Joey right up front. The little "i" pop-up will probably overwhelm the average person though: With Super Joey, you can record up to 8 channels at once.... I'm confident that most people will react with "8 channels at the same time ? Are there that many good shows on ?"

Okay.... 1-3 TVs, it supplies a Hopper and Joeys to match the number of TVs after the 1st one. When you pick (4) TVs, it automatically changes to include a Super Joey: (1) Hopper, (2) Joeys, and (1) Super Joey

Does anyone know what DISH is giving the SJ away for, for existing customers? Free? $50? Why buy the thing if DISH is going to give it to you for free?

If you lease a Super Joey it requires the renewal of a 24 month commitment. If you purchase it you avoid the contract. They retail at $149 and if you upgrade it may cost anywhere from free to $100 plus the technician visit fee of $15 or $95.

How many potential customers use the configuration anyway? No suspect a small percentage, with most just talking to a human.

When you order service, SuperJoey is optional with 2 or three TVs, standard with 4 or 5 TVs. Over 5 and you get two Hoppers and standard Joeys only.

They are promoting it, I got this EMail from Dish:

"DISH Network Corporation

DISH's Super Joey(TM) Now Available, Leading the Industry in Simultaneous Recording

Award-winning Super Joey increases tuner capacity of the Hopper® Whole-Home HD DVR experience
Customers can now simultaneously record an industry-leading eight shows
Adds two network tuners to Hopper's three tuners
Available to current and new customers

ENGLEWOOD, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- DISH (NASDAQ: DISH) announced that an add-on to the award-winning Hopper® Whole-Home HD DVR platform is available today, increasing the tuner capacity of the Hopper experience. DISH's Super Joey™ adds two network tuners to the Hopper's three native tuners, allowing a household to record up to eight shows simultaneously. This can virtually eliminate channel conflicts for DISH Hopper customers.

"We know TV viewers have searched for years for a solution to alleviate conflict over what to watch, and with Super Joey, customers no longer have to choose one program over another," said Vivek Khemka, DISH senior vice president of product management. "Combined with Hopper's 2,000 hours of storage, Super Joey makes it even easier for customers to enjoy more of the shows they love without having to negotiate what's recorded with other viewers in the house."

Super Joey was first introduced at the 2014 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) earlier this year, where it was awarded the CES 2014 "Editors' Choice" award from Reviewed.com. During the event, DISH also unveiled a troop of other Joey products designed to extend the reach of the Hopper experience, including the Wireless Joey and Virtual Joey.

The combined Hopper and Super Joey tuners gives DISH customers the power to watch and/or record shows from any four channels in addition to the shows on the four major broadcast networks or five shows from any channels of their choice. Super Joey is powered by a 1305 MHz, 3000 DMIPS Broadcom BCM7346 processor, features remote finder functionality, and supports MoCA and Ethernet connectivity. "
