I ran into satelliteguys.us a week ago through search on google. I've never heard of FTA before then (Strange, I Know). I've been reading thread about FTA since then. I think FTA is cool. I wanna go for it now, so I am at the crossroad as I don't know what equipment to get, where to get them (I saw many on e-bay, I dont know which is which) Besides I don't know how to hook them up. Can anyone show?walk me through please. PLs, I WILL LIKE SUGGESTIONs ON THE BEST EQUIPMENTS (dish, receiver etc) I SHOULD BUY TO HAVE A GREAT RECEPTION. I' m in Dayton OHio. Thanks.

Check with some of the site sponsors at top of the page, they have the gear, and nice web sites to display it all. You can buy a complete system, or just a receiver , or dish. Setting up a motorized dish can be difficult for beginners, but it can be done, we usually like to suggest fixing a new dish on one satellite to begin, to get a feel for what fta is. You need a receiver, 31" or bigger dish, an lnbf for the dish, and cable to run into your house. (unless you have a known good cable already that's not in use)
The receivers are not that different, most have similar features now, major brands like Pansat, Fortec, and others are all recommended. Of course there are some models now that can receive HD signals from satellite, some even do Over the air HD signals I believe. I'd start simple , and learn the hobby before investing a lot. Check out The List here, for an idea of channels..

Thanks, turbosat. I am considering the 90cm KU Band Offset Dish Antenna and Coolsat 7000 miCro PVR. I want to buy a motor, but I don't know which one to buy. I am considering the SG-2100 SATELLITE Motor and a dual LNB (I need suggestion on brand or type). I hope this is not a failure-bond combination? Tell me if this combination will work for me to receive FTA in Ohio. All suggestion will be greatly valued. Thanks

The Coolsat I can't comment on, don't own one but should be a good rec.
There are some reviews in the Reviews section, on some diff receivers-Iceberg gets to test out a lot of new ones and lets us know about them. That dish should be just fine for fta where you are also. LNB reviews will be found in that same section of the forum too. That sounds like a good setup you've found, the SG2100 motor is very popular too.

your actually in a good location to actually go to a local dealer and see em in action i know sadouns is over in columbus and he would gladly show you some setups.

I am heading for the reviews now. I'll call Sadoun on Monday, I ll probable be in Colombus soon to go see things for myself.
Thanks you all for the replies...
