I am experiencing stop and start playback that makes watching impossible and very slow response to commands. Is there some kind of reset or defrag that can restore it? I am still on software 5, waiting for 6

I assume you mean you are on software version L2.05. Try a power button reset hold power button down for about 5 sec the receiver will reset. If that dosen't work call DISH Tech support you probably will need to replace your POS 522.
