Last year, I used a 2 3/8" aluminum fence post available at Home Depot to mount my SG-2100 motor drive and 76cm dish onto. It worked really well, but when I switched the dish to a 1.2m it vibrated even when filled with concrete.

While at Home Depot last night I noticed they sell 2" and 2.5" I.D. steel conduit which comes in 10' lengths and was a lot heavier than the aluminum fence post. The bottom is flanged, but could be the end which is buried underground. The top has threads which a cap could be placed onto to prevent water from entering the pipe. The cost was between $35 and $65 depending on size.

Has anyone ever used steel conduit to install their dish onto? If so, how did it work out?

Popcorn:

Rigid electrical conduit, whether steel (always galvanized) or aluminum, is the same size as regular sch.40 steel pipe and uses standard pipe threads, which can be threaded with regular pipe dies, for connections.

It would make a good dish post. However, I'd put a pvc sleeve around it, or wrap it with an asphault based tape, where it emerges from the concrete. Electrolysis will take place as there are salts in the rain and soil that will cause it to rust at the point of emergence from your footer.
