Stargate SG-1 Discussion

Perhaps have her watch the movie instead of the series first?

Nah, she just don't care - she respects my passion for science fiction, but other than a sentimental attachment to Star Trek from the early days of our marriage, she just doesn't like it.

And even Star Trek freaked her out when we went to a Star Trek board game party years ago, and everybody showed up in costume. :D

Tried to get my wife to watch SG-1 with me tonight. She refused. :( She will watch ST:TNG and DS9 but has no concept or understanding of SG-1. I have failed. :)

I know I am in the minority with the women I know because I like all of these things. I think I got it from my dad. He was also the one that sent me in the direction of computer programming way back when. Hubby did not want to watch until he accidentally saw the movie one weekend. By that time we were on year 8 of the series. Now he has watched it many times over.
On the other hand, I have no patience for slapstick or stupid comedies.

We may be in the minority, but, I think we have excellent taste. Definitely agree about the stupid comedies and love my Sci-Fi!

There are a couple so-so episodes in those 2 seasons, but the rest really are just terrific. You just don't find tv that good anymore...especially the way Syfy has gone down the tubes.

Agreed. And they really built on prior episodes throughout. Plus, I just enjoyed the Go'auld arc; so much better than the damn Ori stuff. And the whole team - SG-1, Frasier, Hammond of Texas. Science fiction the way it was supposed to be.

The Ori arc lost me, I think I have seen all of those episodes, but not sure... but I missed a lot of SGA episodes at that time also because Scifi wasn't HD ...

That and General Oneill never worked for me, plus all the politics. Too much politics not enough zats in the last few seasons. :)
