Hello all,
I currently have no access to Local channels with Directv here in Fort Scott,KS. Dish Network has them for my area that come out of Joplin,MO and Pittsburg,KS. I really prefer the Kansas City,MO locals since 1. the newspeople are much better and 2. more locals. Just 15 miles north of here qualifies for the locals from KC (I assume due to being in another county, Linn) I tried the "moving" address with a lake lot property I used to own in Linn County. I didn't remember the exact address, since I never lived there, but just gave them a box # and the proper zip code. The local channels appeared on my receiver (down here in the "non-local channel" area), but everyone of them had the error message "This channel not purchased" and of course the screen blank. I checked my distant network major network feeds and all of these had been turned off, I guess due to me "moving" to Linn county. I kind of "panicked" and had them change my address back to my home address here in Bourbon county. I'm now wondering if I jumped the gun and should have had them try once again to "activate" the locals or was the error message of "this channel not purchased" what appears if the locals are out of the viewing area? Like I said I'm only 15 miles from the KC local service area so I'm just wondering how this spotbeam area works. I am currently subscribing to a basic cable to get the locals as well as Directv. Any advice on this matter is much appreciated. If locals are not possible, then I guess my 11 years with Direct maybe over. On a side note, is there a dropoff in quality of Dish HD vs Direct. Thanks
