Forcing unregistered users with an ad blocker who comes across the site to click a button EVERY time they load a forum list? Looks like new member registration has slowed, this is the kind of stuff I'd point to. Took 9 months for your previous 10k milestone... going to take ~11-12 months to hit the next 10k.

If I'd never been here, unless I needed help with my sat provider and was brought here because of a specific thread I'd click back and choose a different search result.

I know usability has never been a priority, but wow.



What's next? Try and install malware, but offer not to do it if they register!

Yeah, a giant banner at the top of the screen that says AD BLOCKER DETECTED and asking for you to pay to get rid of ads (and therefore that banner) is another thing I never thought I'd see.

All you do is harass someone who doesn't know how to use their ad blocker, everyone else only sees it once. Like the alert box, it doesn't seem to be very well thought out. Don't you think that telling them once is enough, and not every time they hit a forum listing, or in the case of the banner every single page view telling them AD BLOCKER DETECTED...?

With no intention of posting because of the direction the (sports) forum had taken last year I didn't see the need to log in to read some of the tech forum threads whenever I did... until that popup started... so then I stopped lurking altogether because of it.

The registered that are so highly touted every milestone on the homepage are treated to this on every single page (until they block it too):

I just logged in under my "other" user name....the one I use to see things like this (non pub non staff one) and no posts

I see an ad at the top and bottom of the page when I look at the forum list
In a thread there is a couple but nothing compared to the ones that the guests see (lots more). Pub members have no ads except for the rotating ones at the top of the sponsors

But its up to you how you view the site
