is it possible to split a diplex signal? what i mean is, can the two combine signals coming out of a diplexer be connected to a splitter which in turn give you two diplex signals? is that possible or would i have to separate the two signals first and then split and diplex them again?

The answer depends on what type of LNBF that you are using.
  • If the system has a band stacked LNBF, signals could be split either before or after the diplexer.
  • If the LNBF is not bandstacked, the signal cannot be split before the diplexer and the satellite output of the diplexer cannot be split.

Each splitter or diplexer inserted will decrease the signal strength and could result in losing weaker stations (I lose 6 of 27 available DTV stations if diplexing). Two diplexers and a splitter will result in an approximate loss of over 5 dB. Each 3dB equals a doubling of signal strength!
