I believe it was off Eggert Rd and Harlem area that I replaced a FIOS install with Dish, but had to leave the internet intact and IO know I had seen it in other places but offhand, that was a year ago, I just can't remember now and I agree with you on Cuomo. This thing about FIOS is the internet is great, the Video is hit or miss. We have a local company here in Illinois that uses Fiber. I love the internet, but customers who've had the video say it pixelates, pauses, etc and that guy in Buffalo I was replacing with Dish told me the same thing about his FIOS. I don't think Video is quite ready to be wireless yet
Sounds like it could be on the Cheektowaga or Amherst side of the Buffalo/Amherst/Cheektowaga boarder. I don't frequent that area, just going by what I see on Google Maps, but I'd be very surprised if it was actually within the city limits of Buffalo. I have friends in Orchard Park with Fios. I don't think it's anything special. My download speeds on Spectrum beat them, upload Verizon wins. Picture quality to me is on par with DirecTV, but I'd have to do an A/B comparison. I do not care for the GUI on the Verizon DVRs one bit though.
Do you live in NYS? If so, there are many other states that could meet your ideological thoughts which seem to be to the far right of the political spectrum. As I read your posts, it's pretty obvious in your rhetoric that you hate....absolutely hate.....the state, the governor and anyone that's not on the far right with you. If you live here, you really should leave if living in NYS causes THAT much anger within you. You might also want to seek help from a mental health professional and stay away from sharp objects and weapons before you cause any harm to yourself or others.
But let's talk about your "conspiracy theory". It's not rooted in any kind of business or economic related reality. Not even close. Spectrum will not just walk away from what they have here and this is not some play by NYS to take over broadband service.....if they wanted to do that, they would have done it with Adelphia Cable or even when TWC was selling. Get educated on this process and if you don't filter it through your far-right politics, you just might find what the truth is.
One thing for sure is that this will take months if not years to resolve between Spectrum and NYS.
Haha sounds like I ruffeled a few feathers
Glad I was crystal clear.
Yes, unfortunately I live in NY State. I live in rural Erie County and I can see Genesee Country from my backyard and if I stand on my roof, I probably can see Wyoming County. But I get screwed by living in Erie. The only reason I am here is because of family. As I get older, and the inevitable happens and my family passes on, I have every intention of leaving this state one day. Since 2010, I’ve had roughly 6 friends, and 2 family members leave for the South and they could not be happier. I’ve also know a decent amount of people who moved out of Erie County, for the specific reason, not to be in Erie County. You make it sound like I'm alone with my feelings, when in reality I am not. Travel down to the backbone of NY, the Southern Tier and you will find a lot of people who share my same views and boy do we own a lot of weapons
I attended a Fourth of July Party with many local hero’s of WNY, Officers of West Seneca Police Department and OP PD, they share my feelings, as do many of the small businesses owners I deal with at work.
And yes, I firmly believe my theory that NY’s ultimate goal is to assume or at least attempt to assume the infrastructure and collect the monthly payments on all 2 million or so customers.
Bringing up Adelphia is irrelevant. That was so long ago, before municipal broadband was a thing, and plus Adelphia was such a small player they don’t count. The vast majority of NY State has been Time Warner forever. Adelphia only served the immediate Buffalo-Niagara area, plus small pockets in the Southern Tier counties. In Eastern Erie County, we never had Adelphia. We were Time Warner of Rochester since the early 90s when TWC bought out the old Batavia based Tri-County Cable that served Orleans, Genesee and Wyoming and small sliver of Erie, and eventually merged us into the Rochester/Finger Lakes system. My regional headend is in Stafford (outside of Batavia), and meets up with the main plant on Mt Hope Ave just outside of Downtown Roc.
