Special Retailer Chat Recap - February 14, 2013

yea that killed the annoucement i wish they were going to talk about some kind of programming changes.

Now if the announced that they were getting the NYC RSN's, that would be big news.
To who ? Most people outside of that region could care less... Then the number is even lower when it's limited to sports fans.
Probably not due to the Bahston Guys, but rather to the dunderheaded CBS/CNET/CES fiasco.
Ask the average person what's the first thing they think of with "Dish Network". It will NOT be some controversy at an electronics tradeshow. Odds are, they will shout "happah, happah, happah !".

No need to be too upset everyone, these chat are suppose to just be for retailers. The price changes for us are pretty big news. What I don't like is how Dish offers retailers more incentives in order to get them motivated to make more sales. This may work to a certain extent but it will not work as well as actually making packages and prices that customers want. Like Scott said, Dish has the hardware but lets work on the programming for customers. It sounds simple but it must not be that easy for them.

You're right, the Boston Guys have been huge for Dish's brand awareness. By far their best ad campaign.

I couldn't agree more. I'd be happier having extra sales through a bigger discount to customers rather than a higher incentive payment. Extending a partial discount for the 2nd year of the contract similiar to what DTV offers would make an impact too in my opinion.

I love catching these threads after the fact. Less disappointment!

I wish I could do that too... but then if I miss a chat and dont report the "big News" and there is actually Big News then they say I am not doing my job.

This chat had big news for the retailers.. just no big news for the consumers.
