VOOM: What we REALLY want!!!
What we Voomers want is more sports - more violent sports - more brutal sports - more manly sports...all in glorious HD!!!
Face facts, the large percentage HD enthusiast are men...and we men love our sports!!! We men are intelligent, articulate, sometimes amiable, and highly refined in certain social settings. But deep-down inside, through thousands of years of evolution, we secretly desire to conquer the world and take whatever we deem to be rightfully ours! Men need private time to unwind and to spend time doing manly things. Sports are an avenue to feed our spirits while helping to maintain a balance with our social roles & responsibilities.
So yes, we desire to witness a man being pummeled into submission and view the beating in breathtaking HD to the point we feel his pain, smell his sweat, and taste his blood as it oozes from his hideously disfigured face and appendages. And who says we men don't experience empathy? Afterwards, we will share a beer with our comrades in arms, and forge bonds based on our shared manly experiences, which are built on respect for our manly ways.

What about programming that features the best fight scenes of all-time in HD: Best Hockey Fights and Brawls, Best Bench Clearing Basebrawls (give new meaning to the phrase, Batter Up), Best of the National Footbrawl League, Basketbrawl 101: Hosted by Kermit Washington and Rudy Tomjanovich, Lights Out – Boxing Biggest Kos: Hosted by Thomas “Hit Man” Hearns and Roberto “Hands of Stone” Duran.
Now, before anyone berates and belittles me, I just want to let you know that I watch at least two movies on the Lifetime Channel each week with my wife. I also sit patiently and watch several hours All My Children on the Lifetime Channel on Sunday afternoon. And it is I who scrubbed toilets, mopped the floors, vacuumed the carpets, changed the diapers, and cooked meals this weekend. Having diverse tastes and interested, we men also enjoy the full array of VOOM Exclusives and Marquee HD channels. Discovery-HD and Equator-HD are two of my favorites…plus, although we don’t like to admit it, we may occasionally sneak a peek at Ultra HD, Auction HD and Gallery HD. So please shut your pie holes in advance. We men are terrific and we deserve our SPORTS!!!
So come on VOOM...make us better men by nurturing our manly spirits - MOOV us!!! (Pun intended) We men will appreciate it, our women will appreciate it, and society in general will be better served by providing us with fisticuff 'o plenty!!!

riffjim: I can't say I share your enthusiasm for blood sports but I agree on the bikini thing. Let's face it: no matter how refined, educated, "liberated" we are, deep down inside we just like to see some skin, some T&A. Not all the time, but after a long day at work, sometimes there's just no substitute for seeing a good looking babe in or out of a bikini.
And no the Playboy channel ain't it. Some of us have significant others and being the sensitive caring type, we're mindful of their feelings

I don't get Ultra either. But Walter suggested that they use it to do bikini fashion shows -- good idea! "Honey, why don't we stay in tonight and watch something about fashion on tv.... Oh, look, Ultra has something about the new swimwear for this year...."
Some Voom version of TechTV in HD sounds good too. It does seem like such a natural fit -- why should a channel devoted to high tech be broadcast in low-tech SD?
My suggestions:
1. Keep Gallery as it is. It is a great "stand-alone" channel.
2. Make Ultra a "Design Channel Concept" adding more food & architecture. Oh, yes; cover the swim suit designs too.
3. Keep Worldsport separate but add actual world sports: Rugby, Cricket, Aussie Football, etc.
4. Keep Rush as it is. It is fantastic. Needs more surfing though.
5. Definitely a comedy channel; could be combination of movies & stand-up.
6. Movie Channels to add:
*Theater/Musicals - combination Theater performances, Broadway & Hollywood musicals.
*Film Noir - there is a web site with over 100 of the best in film noir and they range from "Maltese Falcon" in 1943 to the present including films like " The Usual Suspects" and even "Bladerunner."
*Film Directors Channel: Featuring films of Felini, Bergman, Welles, Hitchcock,Huston,Kurasawa, etc.
*Children's Classic Stories (Robin Hood, Black Beauty, etc. They need more than a cartoon channel.
*Yes, SCI-FI channel.
Finally, create a "CAVEMAN" CHANNEL for riffjim4069.

Personally I really enjoy "Point of origin" Rugby. I think it would translate better for americans. Regular rugby is great but americans don't get scrums, mauls, and rucks. At least not yet. A good dose of "Point of Origin" might change all that. Anyway, we need more "Worldsports".

I also really like the TECH HD idea. Definitely room for this concept, and VOOM could be the first in HD.
And how about a SCIENCE HD channel?? With SCIENCE HD and EQUATOR HD, VOOM would have two more channels to multiply the content available on DHD.
We need BIKINI ULTRA HD too! Especially after watching some DIVINE HD.
