Simplay HD-Verified control with Bravia HDMI

Either this is a no brainer issue or this topic is completely un-registered/unknown-request/need/or idea on anybody radar--at least on line. Can anyone help?

I have a Harmon Kardon AVR147 with Simplay HD-Verified for compatability with the HDMI connection--and I assume a new Sony Bravia is not [?]. Can I control the AV reciever via HDMI? Id like to turn on the receiver with the Sony TV remote. How can this happen directly? Some tweak? a third pary device?

There may be a way to do it, but probably easiest to just use a universal remote and use a macro to turn everything on/off.
