I am trying to install a Dish 500 system. I have installed many Sky Angel systems with 1 LNB, but the Dish 500 has two LNB's and the ST21 switch. I live in Durham, NC, and have even read the directions! My zip code is 27705, and under check angles, it has Azimuth at 237, Elevation at 34, and Skew at 128. I have connected the two cables coming from the Dish 500 to the ST21, The ST21 is connected to the Dish 311 Sat. in, and the output of the Dish 311 is connected to the tv. I could get 119 tuned in with about a 90 signal, but I could never tune in 110. Is there a step I am skipping? I called dish network and the person in tech support told me he had never installed a dish, but it sounded like I was doing everything right. In doing more research on the internet, one writing had info that said some of the old dish 500 systems were mislabeled and to try a higher elevation, but it did not say by how much. I am open to any ideas.:)

Make sure your mast is plumb, otherwise all the settings are wrong. Check to make sure you have the skew setting correct. It is also possible that you are picking up 119 through the wrong eye. To ensure this isn't the case, toss a baseball cap over the eye marked 110. If you lose your 119, then you are pointed wrong. Also, I recommend you remove the sw21 switch until you have a positive lock on 119 with the 119 eye. Then, connect to just the 110 and see if you are getting 110 as well, without the switch. Once you have confirmed you have both satellites without the switch, add the switch to the configuration and run a Check Switch test on your box. Also, make sure that all LNBs and switches are either DishPro or not DishPro. DishPro equipment will be marked with a DP logo.

Increase elevation just shy of 2 degrees, to a hair short of 36.
