Sci-Fi HD...when can we watch?

Gave up yesterday. Boxes are on the way for my VIP211. Would have liked a 722 HD DVR but wasn't going to signup for 18-24 months when SCIFI-HD or USA-HD weren't available. Existing customers are always treated like crap so why not jump ship and be a new customer for the competition.
That is exactly the decision you should make for that reason and without emotion or hesitation. If a vendor doesn't provide what you want, then go to the vendor that does. The fickle consumer is what drives vendors to improve as opposed to stagnate.
Some DN loyalists may tell you something flippant like, "good riddance". But I sincerely wish you luck and I know you'll be pleased since you obviously want those channels.
I've been a dish customer for over 11 years. I'm satisfied with their equipment. At this point, there's no channel that D* has that DN doesn't that would make me jump to D* especially since I've got my equipment just like I like it (ViP622 w/ EHD, ViP722). I think what would make me leave would be be if DN didn't offer my HD LiL's.
I had AEP + HD and everything but other language stuff for $120 + tax a month. I didnt fully jump I just droped down to HD only for 29.99 + 5 for locals. Then signed up with D* and with all info i got from the D* forum on the deals you can get with AAA and now im paying $35 a month to E* and $79 for the first year for everything!!! on D* and thats Cheaper! so now i have both and pay less!!!
If I wasn't in a contract I would do the same, however, since I am, Dish has a few more months to try and get the leaks plugged on this sinking ship.
Thats not a bad idea. The 35 is that for a 622 or 722? Just wondering if they will get you for the dvr fee. I have a 622 and a 301, but would look at D and keep E at the basic level
Of course, eventually, you'll be an old customer for the competition and be treated like crap over there. Maybe by that time, Dish will have its HD act together and you can come back and be a new customer again.

Will Dish Network be adding the Sci-Fi HD channel (the high definition feed) soon?
If so, when?
For the record - Sci-fi HD gets my vote for next HD channel to add.

good thought i got to check the dvr fee. I have 2 622's of which i am canceling one.
Well after following this thread since the beginning I'd gad to report that FINALLY I will be able to watch SCIFI HD this Sunday when my new Direct TV System is installed.

That depends on whether he gets a SWM slimline or a standard slimline. The SWM would only run ONE line from the dish into the home. That line is then split using a splitter thats rated for 2000MHz to distribute to the rest of the home. So if he is lucky to get that then the install would be cleaner than Dish as he would only need to have one line run into his home and then split that line say from the attic to wherever he needs one. Much more efficient than my dish install which had wires from TWO sats. going into my home.
bkushner - Enjoy your new system! A lot of the channels have better PQ than Dish and some channels like Science, APL, Nat. Geo, and the likes are identical. The rest are a lot better. If you like Starz you'll find the welcome surprise of not having it look like someone applied a filter to soften the picture and remove detail.
Please elaborate on this two line thing? Right now with dish I have two dishes with two lines coming in?
That depends if you have that Dish 1000 (could be wrong on the name) then you don't have two dishes. Some of us had the Dish 500 with another dish for 61.5 so we can get our HD channels. Most of wiring should be outside for both dishes and only the actual lines going to the reciever should be going into your home. Dish uses one cable and then splits it at the reciever for both tuners. However if that same dual tuner reciever is going to go to an additional tv then you will need another cable from the reciever to the other TV.
Yes that's my Dish set up, I have the 119/110 and a separate 61.5 which used to be a voom dish.
As frustrating as it is that we have been waiting for a few months for "SciFi HD" and maybe a couple others, have we forgotten how long E* was the HD leader? D* takes the lead for a relatively short period of time and people are jumping ship? 3-6 months from now E* will probably catch up and maybe pass D* and people will be switching back and/or wishing they never left. We sell & install E* & D*. Out of 100 installs probably 1-3 are D*, E* is just that much better. The D* receivers are pieces of crap and have been for years. They are VERY sluggish, like using an E* receiver from 1998. The 2 tuner DVRs need 2 coax lines to them making installs in newer/nicer houses difficult if not impossible. EHD storage and being able to record in 1 room and watch the recording in a another with the dual tuner E* receivers is not to be dismissed either.
I can't wait for SciFi HD either, but I will. I am waiting on SciFi HD so I can go to the HD only package, but my daughter likes Nickelodeon etc, don't know how to get around that
